Yes, Nairobi will need both surface trains and light rails within the city and in and out of the city like the one in Addis Ababa coz of the growing population, to connect with other transport systems like the buses, matatus in the major parts of the city.

What Nairobi needs is metros/BRTs. Many motorists would gladly leave their cars at home for the expedience of functioning metro systems. Has this video covered that (e.g. the way in which urban planner Constant Cap objectively does?) Or is it one-sided? Was unable to watch till the end. Expressway isn't going to decongest the city, many bottlenecks at the exits to the 'raia' streets. No lessons learnt from Thika Rd. Not anti-development. Ngong Rd expansion was a wasted opportunity to include BRT lanes or light tram system. Very soon it will be redone...and redone.

Simple math KSh 87,000,000,000 ÷ (27×12×30) days = KSh 8,950,617 per day ----> to just break even, divide that by 360 maximum for small vehicles from Westy to JKIA gives about 24,000 vehicles on a daily basis. Tell me, can such a road handle 24,000 vehicles in a day? Okay, maybe it can. Further divide that into a nominal 15 hour window, it gives 1,600 vehicles per hour. Further divide that into per minute, you have 27 vehicles, about 1 vehicle every 2 seconds, no traffic just a smooth flow. Assumptions, to just break even, you'd need 1,600 vehicles to travel the entire length of the road every hour, 15 hours a day, for 27 years. To make such a profit, you'd need about 3,200 vehicles to travel the entire length of the road, 15 hours a day, for 27 years. That would be insanely good. Rush hour isn't factored and bunching at the payment booths. If half of the vehicles were to pay cash, hopefully they take just 2 seconds so as not to clog up the checkout booths. If there are 3 checkout booths as seen, then there's a 6 second window to make payment and drive off without holding up traffic. That is possible, but still impossible and this project was unjustifiable. Until then, the guarantor, the Kenyan people, will repay.

I never considered individual car use as a sign of development. It contributes to pollution and catastrophic climate change. It impovirishes families by burning needlessly hard earned income which could be put to better use. It's a health hazard that causes stress and blood pressure, let alone body injuries and death. Besides, individual car use growth is exponential and no infrastructure development can beat it. I proudly don't own a car and don't intend to have one any time soon.

They just asked for 9 billion to fix the old Mombasa rd..this didn't age well in a weekend... everyone knows that is corruption..the funding was included when fixing that highway..same nonsense as the eastern bypass never being a one way traffic as intended... let's stop ignoring this nonsense..

Kenyans are gullible. Most of them don't even comprehend what you are saying. This is corruption of the highest order. The initial construction cost was 62 billion(inclusive of any damages done to the old road) which was later raised to 88 Billion. And now we Still have to pay 9 billion for repairs to the old road?? Make it make sense.

Feel free to migrate to the US or even Somalia if you wish. Who hurt you by the way ? # Proudly Kenyan, Unapologetically Kenyan. # Learn to appreciate little progress. If not, as I told you, migrate to the US since poverty is your concern and not progress where on your daily engagements and activities you'll be reminded you are of the Negro descent.. Once again, # Proudly Kenyan, Unapologetically Kenyan 🇰🇪...
