Chandlers parents got divorced when he was a kid so it is safe to assume he lived on his own when he was in college.

She likely had the top surgery but not the bottom surgery. You don't even have to have a surgery to be considered transgender. She likely thought she was just gay. But felt validated wearing dresses/crossdressing.

From what I understood of the story, Chandler's dad was Bi at first and did Drag. But then acknowledged that he was gay but still kept doing Drag. He is not trans or non binary and defines himself as him, also allowing Chandler to call him dad as he is, his dad. I am sure that outside the close family group, the dad would prefer to be called by his stage name and does not mind being identified as male much by his son as he also treats him in a gender fluid way but cannot avoid calling him 'dad'. He did not transition and seems to be a top so I don't think he is a trans woman in every sense of the matter, just genderfluid, before genderfluid was a thing.

What's truly hilarious is people mislabeling Charles Bing as a trans woman when the show and the screenwriters always made it clear back then that he was just a cis gay guy who was really into crossdressing, on stage and IRL. It's indeed "hilarious" to see that for some people, a crossdresser and transgender person are apparently the same thing... And I thought it was only transphobic people who equated trans women with "dudes who wear a dress, makeup, and a wig"...

I don't want to offend anyone. But ...isn't there to much made by Charles to be just a cross-dresser? I mean it's very hard to change a voice for a transwoman, it can take years, so I don't think if you were just a cross-dresser you would care so much to have a voice Charles does now (I know he/she is played by ciswoman, but I've met transwomen who have almost the same as the cis women do and even higher voices, so yeah, Charles is a trans for me, but I don't see a reason for a creator of Friends to apologise for a joke either)

Nope, you're just wrong. The creators have said that their intention was essentially a transgender woman. Just because they didn't understand it and messed up the portrayal doesn't mean that it wasn't their intent.

Yes, they’re saying all of this after the fact to try to score some points and pander, but it does not change the reality of the situation. Every single time his dad was mentioned on the show it was that he was a gay cross dresser. So I’m not wrong. Sorry to break that to you.
