Some of the levels of the increase seem almost reasonable by luxury price increases standards, and others are as high as 13%! By now we are all used to these luxury price increases, they seem almost normal now, but let's take a look in this video at some of the main headline increases for the UK, Europe, Australia, Canada and the USA, and then I will share with you the Chanel bags that I would still buy at today's price, following the 2024 price increase. Let me know if you are completely done with Chanel or still buying your favourites!

The classic flap has been my dream bag for about 15 years! But I told myself a few years ago that it had got too expensive. I tried to talk myself out of wanting it, but it didn’t work in the end and I’ve just purchased a beautiful vintage classic flap, so much cheaper than retail. I definitely won’t be buying anything from the boutique at this point.

I used to be obsessed with Chanel bags about three decades ago. I don’t know why I never bought a medium classic flap. I feel so dumb for not buying one then. At the current prices I will never buy one, but that’s OK. 😊 EDIT whoever owns any Chanel bags, enjoy them!

When you mentioned the price of the rectangle mini in Australian dollars (over $8000 now) I thought about the caviar mini I bought for $4200 then sold because I kept worrying about marking it and I just wanted to smack myself. I then paid $7000 for an older one in much worse condition just because I wanted to have one in caviar. Bring on time machines so we can go and reverse all our silly bag buying/selling decisions and maybe go back and buy a dozen classic flaps for half what they’re worth now.

I don’t know. Chanel almost went belly-up in the 80s. Karl saved the company, but there will never be another Karl. I love their designs, but this could be a very big deal for them

While I agree the prices increases, percentage wise, weren’t terrible this time, I am done. I’ve been done. I can’t justify spending this much money on a bag just because it says Chanel. I have one bag & one wallet and that will be it for me from Chanel.

The quality has definitely gone down. I ordered a 4 ring key holder in black caviar and the flap was crooked and the feel of the caviar seemed cheaper. It really looked used. I sent it back. I’m done buying new from the store. Besides I’m not paying those prices for a bag.

Which is so interesting to me. Hermes pre loved continues to outpace the store prices. I just don’t think this is a strategy that is working for Chanel. I just got an excellent condition well under retail. I think that speaks to how much customers value these bags, pre loved and boutique buyers

I can use $17k for a holiday to Japan so no Chanel for me. I had a mini rectangular lamb skin chevron in blue but I was so scared of using it, I sold it. Now I regret selling it 😅 after all the price increases.

If channel bags actually smelled like leather, didnt have pealing leather paint and still had solid gold hardware, then I may CONSIDER a 4-10% markup on a Chanel bag. Gabrielle would be a supernatural-grade poltergeist if she could come back and see what has happened to her fashion brand.

The percentage is irrelevant when the price is soooo high. Accept a 4% increase bc the percentage is lower when the price is already 10k. Augh. Girl math needs to stop babe.

If they keep raising prices twice per year...where does it top out? Will there ever be a cap? It's unbelievable considering the lessening of the quality. I can truly see why people will seek out dupes or even the replicas. I have a couple of dupe tweed bags, and I absolutely love how they look. I don't feel weird about it because they are non branded. With Chanel, I think vintage pre-loved is the best way to buy! ❤

I'm glad I started my Chanel collection about 7 years ago and acquired all the bags I wanted. Now, I don't have to deal with these ridiculous prices. However, I think I do want the drawstring rolled up bucket bag. I'm not too pressed for it bc I have a red rectangular mini and I like the drawstring bucket bag in red, so already having a red chanel is enough for me, which has prevented me from pulling the trigger on that specific bag. Personally, I don't have a problem in chanel increasing their prices... it's their brand, their merchandise, and their decision. As for me, I'm done with my purchasing journey, 9 is enough for me!

Price increases at that level just feel unnecessary at this point. As far as I can tell China, Europe and the US/Canada are the luxury markets main hubs, China’s real estate market is crumbling, the US is entering or has already entered a recession, and I don’t know that much about Europe but they seem to be going through a cost of living crisis. I can’t see the luxury industry continuing to grow like it has since the pandemic.

Yes i totally agree with you. If one really love the Chanel classic flap, perhaps they should go to the reseller route. The mini rectangular yes perhaps i will still buy from the boutique but not the classic flap for sure unless i really can't find it at the reseller or the color is really really what i love. The percentage of increase was lower in the UK but the prices are on par with Canadian prices when you do the exchange. But we also have 13% tax on top of the retail price.

Fashionohile has them for 8,000 US dollars. It’s still too much. I’m happier with my 22 which is more practical for 5,800 US dollars. I got a coco too handle in small and I only wear it for dinner. I prefer practical bags

I’m not a fan of the classic flap overall, but I like your minis, because of the colors. They’re a great size and a fun pop for an outfit. I have a vintage Diana flap from 2003 and a couple of seasonal boy bags in fun patterns. I’ve been vaguely considering a (preloved) trendy cc or business affinity for the last couple of years, but I don’t know now with the price increases.

They finally realized they priced themselves out, and if they did another huge price increase they’d loose the majority of the few customers they have left! They also are discontinuing some of the regular size perfumes. If I didn’t know better, I’d think they have a mole sabotaging the brand. I won’t buy Chanel leather pieces with the quality issues (especially with the price increases), but if quality issues weren’t a concern, I would 100% get the mini rectangle in that beautiful blue chevron!! It’s gorgeous! ❤

I personally would not buy any more Chanel bags at the current prices. I sold my caviar medium and lambskin mini rectangle because I never wore them. I was too worried about getting them stolen/ drawing too much attention. The only one I have kept is the woc because it’s the only one I actually wear😂 It’s enough for me. I feel uncomfortable with the cc logo

I’m not gonna linger on your post here, but I will say this, Chanel bags are not worth the price they keep increasing. The quality has gone down majorly and there just not worth it. I’m not really sure why they continue to raise their price but, they are completely delusional and thinking that people are going to support their products with it being of poor quality. Their bags are NOT even close to the utility of an Hermes’ bag!

Bought 2 Chanel 19 + a WOC before last March’s price increase, and decided that was the last time shopping from the boutique. Then I went to Paris in Nov and picked up another bag (and I haven’t even posted the unboxing video!). Ok, I’m really done with them this time. Shifting my handbag play money to special pieces from other fashion houses.
