Change a NOUN or an ADJECTIVE from Singular to Plural in Portuguese

In this episode learn how to write plurals of nouns and adjectives in European Portuguese. We will walk you through all the different changes and rules of this basic grammar. Follow along the vocabulary and repeat the words. Notice how many times the plural sounds so different from the singular.
Make a list of words in the singular and see if you are comfortable rewriting them in the plural.

Feliz Ano Novo Sandra. Why do I get an accent on the a eg desligá-lo turn it off. Can you do some lesson also about use of a o and lhe muito Obrigada

Obrigada Eveline! For 'ar" verbs you drop the "r" and add an acute accent on the "a" like in comprá-lo, desligá-lo, limpá-lo. Now if its an "er" verb you add a circumflex accent over the e: bebê-lo, comê-lo, vendê-lo. I'll add it to my list of video suggestions. Obrigada e bom ano!

Please change your pronunciation of the English word, diphthong. The "i" is a short "i" sound, as in "hip," not a long "i" sound, as in "hide." Otherwise, thanks for these short tutorials. As a beginner, I'm paying most attention to the sound of the Portuguese language.

I am a Portuguese native speaker. I do struggle to make that “ i” short sound: Dip, tip, hip, ship, etc. I do exaggerate a little bit when I pronounce long sounds “ leave, sheep, sheet, beach 😎 , etc”. It is not so simple to distinguish such short and long sounds. The pronunciation of my native language is much easier than English. English is rich in phonemes ( fonemas).
