Great video. How do you get it to show the extended weather forecast continuously? I would like that to always be on the screen. Also, anyway to always have 1 of the cards on the right side showing with a list of my next calendar items? After being idle for a few seconds, it always goes back to showing pictures or the clock (with the current temperature only very small) and nothing else. I’d like one of the cards to always be visible on the screen. Thanks!

Im missing the feature to get to ambient mode to change the background, my app does not look like that , on iOS, it seems like it cam only change a few features unlike you have a vast amount or maybe im seriously missing something

Hey Brett - I just noticed that if I set my Google Max as the default speaker I can only choose from an abbreviated Pandora station listing (last 3 played). If I swipe further to What Else Can I do and select - Play Music - Open Pandora, I can access all my stations however it plays locally on the Screen/Hub instead of the default Max. Bummer! Overall I'm happy with the hub.

Hi Brett, great vid. Does google hub have a 'verbal' alarm? I can get my google home to set a reminder, but it doesnt say what the reminder is for (unless I ask). I'm looking for a verbal prompt through the day for special needs e.g. "It's time to make lunch", "John take your meds", "10 minutes of computer time left".......or do you know a device that does this?

I took advantage of Black Friday deals and bought a Home Hub, Mini, a couple Wemo outlets and a some Smartlight bulbs. It was a little more difficult to get all the devices on the the wifi network than expected; a lot of finicky settings need to be made that only show up when one digs into troubleshooting. Now that everything is dialed in it's great. Are there "dumb" wifi speakers you can add to fill out sound when broadcasting music?

Glad you got it working! If you have old speakers that have AUX input you can get a Chromecast Audio for them and then they can be added to a Chromecast audio group.

Tech With Brett I'll look into that, thank you. BTW, Magiclights, not "Smartlights". No hub, but the 50 watt equivalent bulbs aren't bright enough for some uses.

Hey Brett, I’m having a lil problem with the light setting... I have 2 lights kitchen and living room, google only recognized the kitchen, when I tell it to turn off the living room light...google will say “ok turning off the kitchen light” am I doing something wrong?

Im trying to get my hub max which i set up in my office waiting room to play my youtube channel in background while patients are waiting. It keeps telling me to change something in ny google home app but doesnt elaborate how. Help!

So this is an old video but I just got the newest Hub and I'm having problems with choosing the pictures I want to display when it's not in use. The album only has two pictures but when I select it it only shows one picture and doesn't rotate to the next one. Then after a minute or so it automatically changes back to the default pictures and not mine from Google Photos. Is there a way I can fix it to just display my pictures and to stop reverting back to the default ones?

I may have missed it, but how do you feel about the Google Hub vs. the Lenovo version? Has there been any updates to the Lenovo? I understand your not able to use the home control on that one.

I am a real quick question do you have trouble with the texting working on the Google? Mine just does not work at all. This covers all of them that I have not just hub. Thanks for your input! You're a great help

As of right now messaging is not supported out of the box. I will have to look into the best way to do it.

@@TechWithBrett that confirms what I thought it works part of the time here not all the time! But check into if this than that works beautifully they've got time to ones that work right on the second. That's what I use now and it even sends me reminders for myself. Thanks for such a quick answer! As always you are the best

Does anyone know how to get the screen to show active timers full-time? Currently I have to ask for “how long left on timer” to see how long is left on timer, but I would prefer not to ask and just have the screen show the timer for the duration of the timer. This used to be the case for timers, I’m not sure why it changed.

I have the clock full screen and bright. However, when it gets dark, so does the display so I can not read the time at a distance. How do I get the clock to be bright under all ambient light setting and not dim?

I just got the lenevo smart display with google assistance yesterday is there anyway i can have the screen to be always on (photo slideshow) whenever the room goes dark it auto turn itself of its pretty damn annoying, and really rubbish if you cant turn this off!??!?!?

I have to say that Google has a very good clock app which allows you to choose Spotify tunes as well as Google Assistant integration so that you can automate your lights to come on... Sadly this is not available on the home hub...

I'm trying to disable notifications from popping up on my Hub. I've asked the assistant for it and it told me to go into the Google Home app, tap on my device, tap the settings icon, and go to notifications…although I can't find it. My wife and I each have separate Google accounts and we have a joint Google account that are linked to the Hub. However by default when we hit the touch screen my calendar is displayed. Is it possible to change the default calendar that is displayed?

I think you need to link the device to your account. Tap on the device on the home menu, do you see Link Your Account at the bottom? It might not be supported everywhere.

Is there any way to manually change time zone? Seems it automatically sets, and changing home address won't change the zone. My town goes by EST, not CST, so clock is never correct. Any ideas?

Go into the Settings of the Google Home app and make sure it is set do dim in the display settings of the Google Home Hub settings.

Can the new Google home hub do a Monday through Friday wake up alarm for work ETC? I still have my 6 Google homes but none of them do them so I have an Old Sony Dash that I use for my wake up alarm clock and for some strange reason it always goes behind by 2 minutes on the time no matter how many times I set the time properly on that Sony dash. I 😅

One thing I had a devil of a time to figure out was how to do a factory reset of the Home Hub. Eventually discovered that you have to press the center of the volume rocker for 10 seconds. Information was not included in the box or on Google's site.

So they have updated the app. Check in the top Left corner of the app for the + to add new devices.

Somehow the time on my google hub changed from central to eastern zone. My phone time is correct as are the nest doorbell and thermostat. I cant figure how to get it set to the central zone time. Any suggestions?

@@TechWithBrett.. The address was set to my home address and looked correct. Just for the heck of it, I deleted that address and re-entered it. That fixed the issue. The odd thing is that the time was correct for two days and changed by an hour by itself?? Thanks for the support.

You should be able to. In the Google Home app go the fourth tab and choose Settings. Then go to the services tab and you can adjust what calenders sync.

If your calander is set up with GSuite, it will not sync. It only recognizes calanders through standard @gmail.com accounts at this time.

Yes you should be able to adjust these settings in the Display section on the Google Nest Hub in the Home app.

I wish the Home Hub had continued conversations. Another thing that annoys me, and this is for all Google Home devices, after night mode turns off it does not give you the option to set a day mode setting or at least restore the previous settings when night mode turns off. After night mode turns off it is annoying that I have to turn it up everyday so I can hear it when I'm not in bed.
