As the season warms it is time to get our elevated raised beds from Gardener’s Supply Company ready to plant. First we are spacing them out to give us more room to work in between each bed. Then we are adding new feet to keep them from sinking in the gravel. After that it is time to add our new soils. We are using Coast of Maine Bar Harbor and Canteen Blends. These organic soils will combine to give us a lightweight and extremely productive growing medium. @Coastofmaine @gardenerssupply

Bought ten bags of the Bar Harbor purple bag so far because you recommended it, and it is everything I hoped for. Best mix I have ever used! I was kind of shocked to be able to get it here in south central PA, and I told the garden center how much I liked it. Thanks guys!

Loving the attention to detail guys! I’m always amazed ( each year I forget) at how much compost I need for mulching my flower beds. We purchase in Litres which I believe 1 litre is around 2 cubic feet. We cannot purchase compost with peat here in the UK due to environmental concerns. It’s difficult getting the right ‘blend’ when filling up my containers for flowers or vegetables. Any ideas anyone? Can’t wait see what you choose to grow this year. Happy Gardening X

This is the video I was waiting for! My 2 x 8 is assembled! And got both the raised bed mix and potting soil ready to fill it soon! We're getting some low 30s for the next few nights here in MA so that's a bummer.

@@growformegardening Oh, 28, I would definitely cover things that need it! I was wondering about whether or not to cover my peach and plum trees that are currently blooming. But I feel like they'll be fine. I hope so!

Hi Eric and Christopher, the raised beds look very smart in their new position. I don't know whether you remember, I asked you if you bought your Panicula Hydrangeas from a specialised nursery, as we can't seem to get them in the UK. Well I was so excited as I managed to get two Pink Lady Hydrangeas in one of our garden centres. I can't wait for them to flower

Hi you two. Just a thought, if you put the trellis on the 2x4 planters toward the fence, you would have like a room to walk into with all your raised beds. U shape with the little needs in the middle. Like I said, just a thought. Love your gardens. They are beautiful.

Thank you so much. We did consider this at one point, but the wind comes directly from the west over that fence so to keep everything steady it’s better to have it in that direction.

So beautiful! Love watching your channel but I need to ask but the knee pads in the pants....are they knee pads under the pants or kneepads incorporated into the pants? Just asking for friend whose knees are already protesting the gardening year.

Hop on the Duluth Trading website. They are regular pants that have a little velco pocket that you put the knee pad inside.

I like the raised beds, wish I had something like that. You mentioned you grew artichokes in the smaller raised bed. Do you have any tips on how to grow them? Just for fun, I am experimenting with growing artichokes here in southern Connecticut, zone 7a. My house faces a southern exposure. I got beautiful foliage, yet no artichokes produced. Can you give us some advise on wintering over artichoke plants. Thank you.

Well it was an experiment for us too! We bought the small plants at the garden center, full sun, watered as we did the rest of the raised beds. We don't overwinter much because of our zone

Those beds look so pretty. I love that they have the built in trellis'. I just did this same exact thing yesterday...refreshed my bed and even used the same soil. Except my raised beds are on the ground so I didn't add the potting mix. Do you guys add any fertilizer? I did a soil test this year and I learned so much about the health of my raised beds. P.S. I will be at my daughters outside of Albany this weekend so please tell the weather gods to make it gorgeous there!

I don't think we will add anything when we plant. There will be some fertilizer along the way but this soil is magical
