Only expand the tournament if you're going to include regular season conference champions. Sometimes these smaller conferences get the sub-500 teams make a lucky run and grab the only available spot. Really makes the regular season totally worthless.

It's amazing to me how these TV personalities really don't use their brains correctly. You don't need to extend the tournament you need to put the tournament on ABC NBC Fox and CBS but if you have Paramount Plus which includes CBS for no additional price during the NFL season so they shouldn't charge you 12 extra dollars just watch tournament games. Those channels will have them make more money

The process is fine. The issues with the Men March madness is that the last 3 years some of the top 5 draft picks either came from a country overseas, played in an overseas league or played in the G League. Ppl are saying why watch a tournament with 1 of the top 5 prospects and a bunch of lotteries.

Thee sporting leagues and the media once again are buying into "playoff creep." The solution to improve the postseason is always add more teams. None of them seem to care that it waters down the regular season and lowers the minimum bar to winning the championship.

This is what I have been saying and thinking. Furthermore play the conference tournaments earlier than when they do. And reward teams that might stumble in conference tournaments to a sub five hundred team but won the regular season conference championship and reward teams with winning records and challenging opponents should be propped up not punished down.

I agree with expanding it if both the tournament champions AND regular season champs get automatic bids. Having a 128-team tourney is not really an issue as it allows way more alumni with connections to smaller schools to rep their team.

The reason it’s called MARCH MADNESS is because every team will do whatever it takes, life or death, to get into that tournament but if they know in the back of their head “we’re already in” as one of the expanded teams then the conference tournaments are gonna lose its value and so will the NCAA tournament itself. Leave it exactly how it is with maybe a little more openness to the mid major and small conference teams that’s had amazing seasons but lost in the conference tournament instead of giving a team like Virginia a bid to the dance

It would be fun to have more teams and more games, but the reality is there are probably already enough teams. The lowest seeded team to win the title was a #8 seed, and #7 won a couple of times. You probably have your true national champion is those top 32 seeds. The lowest rated at large teams are usually #11s. If they played a 4-team pod system brackets with double elimination in each pod to get to the Sweet 16, Final 4 and to decide the National Champion it would probably weigh more towards the even higher sees advancing but it would take out the fun of guessing which big seeds will face sudden death with one loss.

There’s nothing wrong with the tournament. The problem is lack of talent. There’s too much parity. The best players don’t stay for more than one year. The women’s tournament has star players all over the place. Better teams and matchups.

Yeah, I agree. The most talented players leave after a year and the actual college basketball stars who stay for 4-5 years are late second-round or UDFA material. That's why the Tournament was a much bigger deal 25 years ago because most of the college basketball stars were high draft picks.

The NCAA Tournament does not need expanded at all. Leave it alone. Also, college athletes are STUDENTS and should always be STUDENTS. The day college athletes are hired instead of enrolled will be the day that all of college sports will be completely dead to me.

I hate to break it to you but the term student athlete has long been erased from college sports. As someone who interned for an athletic department last year and have friends on certain teams. They almost always will find ways to keep players eligible. And know every possible way to bend or skirt NCAA rules.

I think you could expand the amount of teams but not nearly so drastic. I think the 1 and 2 seeds in each region should get a BYE in round one. There's already enough debate about who the one seed should be in the regions. That rewards the "should've been 1 seed team" and if you are that "top 8" schools to receive a 1 or 2 seed, you are probably there for a reason

The day that my small conference fandom is rendered irrelevant is the day that I stop following college basketball. Similarly, I have not watched one minute of NBA basketball since the Sonics left Seattle. When I leave, I don't look back. I'll spend my entertainment dollar elsewhere.

If you expand the tournament to over 100 teams you literally make the conference tourneys at least in the major conferences irrelevant and players will start resting/opting out just like the CFB bowl games Which also will have a cause and effect when the actual attorney begins because players won't be as sharp

It's wild that Jay Williams is saying the student athlete doesn't matter anymore.........he is a Duke graduate academically the hardest school in NC to get into, and he graduated ahead of time. Less teams in the tournament IS the incentive for players and teams, jay. Plus the tournament is as successful as it is because of the perfect bracket. Expand to 112 and you lose that entirely and you lose a big chunk of the fan base, even with gambling mow

Expand the tournament. But the regular season champs in every conference get automatic bids and get a bye from the conference tournament. Conference tournament champs also get an automatic bye.

Seton Hall did not belong in the tournament. They're well coached but just not talented enough. There's no point in arguing about teams that got left out. Those teams aren't good enough to win the tournament. Connecticut, Purdue, and Houston were dominant all year long and were locks to win their first two games.

Houston needed OT to win their most recent game, that's a lock to you? They are putting teams from football conferences in and leaving basketball conferences behind, and it's due to MONEY, just like always. Somehow this escapes you when it is beyond obvious. The ACC and the Big East should have had two or three more teams each. ACC is 11-3 against the Big 12 this year, and two of those three Big 12 wins are against two of the worst ACC teams, and two of the ACC wins are as underdogs in this current tournament. That is dominance, yet you believe it's all legit, my goodness! Furthermore, when have teams been selected by whether they have the possibility of winning the tournament or not? No one is claiming the teams that should have got in should have been 1 seeds. Do you even watch this sport? You clearly have zero understanding of it!

Give the number 1 seed a bye to the Elite 8 maybe 2 seeds get a bye to the sweet 16. That would allow you to add 8 more teams and reward the team that excelled in the season time to heal up and rest and practice plays and fundamentals . A lot of upsets are more talented teams with bad habits and fundamentals playing less talented teams with good habits and fundamentals. This gives those top 2 seeds a better chance to win the title. Which is better for TV deals. Then do 4 extra play-in games that's 12 total. This gives those bubble teams a better chance to make the tournament.

I would not add teams, but I did want to see the Sycamores get in. When a team has a pretty historic season like that give them a chance. Me personally, I don't like to see too many 19-14, 20-15 teams get in (yes, I know Michigan St. had a good run. Me personally I don’t care about knowing the names of the players because I root for the jersey (teams) and I’m a huge sports fan that does not bet on sports. Leave the tournament alone.

I agree with Jay to an extent. I would add more teams to the Tournament. The top 25 teams should play each other. Eliminate so many non-conference games. Now we are displaying the true top dogs in D-I basketball. Eliminate the conference tournament and all the top 25 to have byes until the round of 32

So they’re joking but this is honestly and easy fix. Instead of setting brackets based on locations and conferences. Places teams solely on snake seeding once the 68 teams are choosen.

The tournament is perfect as it is. Only reason expansion is even being considered is so mediocre P5 teams can make it while pushing mid majors out. If anything, change the selection process because there’s absolutely no way UVA should’ve made it over Indiana State.

I would expand because right now the NIT is a joke, you got good teams don't even wanna play that. So cut that tournament and combine it with the big tournament.

The thing I would change is that you get rid of the conference tournaments. I know they're great for viewing on TV but the overall conference champion should be rewarded with the tournament bid. These teams end up stealing six or seven spots each year with losing records.

I agree with that. Appalachian St. and Indiana St. had great seasons. They dominated their respective conferences throughout the season, only to get upended in their conference tourney. It makes it look like their conference representative is weak, therefore the conference is weak. I think Appalachian St. and Indiana St. could have shocked some people had they gotten the nod.
