Great to see a tech vid on the Pajero, not too many of them around. These vehicles are really under-rated. Just bought myself one with a blown transmission. Got the tyranny at home, but me wife wants me to finish a building project before I touch my Pajero 😩😩😩😩

I searched many times on youtube for ATF Change on the Pajero NM. Somehow, your video never showed up when I searched for it. Now it got recommended while watching a music video :D Thank you, this video is very helpful. I just wonder: Aren't there normally magnets in the transmission pan which need to get cleaned properly? And also you show that you only fill in 4.5 liters while I read many times that the AT capacity is 9.7 liters? Many greetings from WA!

Mister T Thanks bud. Yeah it’s 9.7 L brand new and everything dry it would take forever to get every drop of ATF out of every part of an auto. But if you wanted it to be close to perfect you would fill it up, take it for a drive and than drop the ATF again, until the fluid coming out was perfect. 👍 and yeah I forgot to put the magnets in the video, just give them a wipe down and put them back where you found them 👍👍👍

Where did 4.5 kts come from mine says 10.9 3.2 lt nx and there is no dipstick hole for filling

Nice video mate. I think about doing equipment for oil change some kinda dynamicaly. Have you ever tried? You need pump in what came out at the front cooler I suppose.

Dry fill is about 11L So I too am unsure about the 4.5L.

Great vid but I would not use RTV on the gasket because it can get into the oil and block up the filter, Hylomar is better .

It’s actually ‘Duplicolor bed liner’ wouldn’t recommend it. Hard to clean. Have whole car painted in ‘U-Pol raptor liner’ now and it’s great 👍

wOULD IT BE POSSIBLE TO DO A COMPLETE FLUSH USING THE OIL COOLER ? ONE SIDE OUT TO A DRAIN, THE OTHER TAKING CLEAN TRANSMISSION OIL IN. THAT WAY THE TORQUE CONVERTOR WILL BE FLUSHED AS WELL? Sorry I had caps lock on.

Crash 999 It would probably be safer to drain the fluid, than fill it up, and repeat. Because you don’t want to run it too long without fluid 👍

Great vid thanks. Went and got all the bits and pieces I needed to get it done. The thing that stopped me was the dip-stick. Is there some way to detach it to take the sump off? Mine looks like its all one piece from the sump to the fill point in the engine bay, in which case there are a couple of bolts to remove, which is fine, but I would need a hoist to get the car high enough to pull the whole tube out. Is there something I'm missing? Its a 3.2TD. Thanks.

From memory there should be a bolt on the engine but just follow the dip stick tube from the bottom to the top and you should find a bracket

@@adventurejwagon2469 Yep, there's 2, one on the engine and one further down. So you just take the entire metre of so of dip-stick out? It can be done with the car on the ground?.... its all back together now, though, so it will have to wait ...

always use plastic on steel to remove gasket as steel can scratch steel and create massive leak...

Yeah this is for the diesel but yes they use the same trans in all the NM and NP Pajeros (2000-2006).

V5A51 holds 15ltrs of fluid not 4.5ltrs and that’s not a filter it’s a plastic pickup with a screen to stop large debris.

@@adventurejwagon2469 My pajero is shifting supersmouth. But sometimes it takes long to shift when going uphill from 3-4 gear. 3.2 diesel 2004 gen 3. It has 426k KM. Would u suggest changing Fluid to make it shift smouther ?

@@adventurejwagon2469 Scotty kilmer sometimes say to keep the old oil. But have some friends say they changed and it made all the difference. I'll take you're advice.

A verificação do nível do fluido é feita com o carro ligado ou desligado, pergunto pois nem no manual do proprietário informa isto, só diz: "verifique o nível com o carro nivelado e em temperatura de operação..". Esqueceram de mencionar: com o carro desligado na posição "N" ou "P", ou ligado na posição tal.

The verification of the fluid level is done with the car on or off, I ask because even in the owner's manual it does not inform this, it just says: "check the level with the car level and at operating temperature ..". They forgot to mention: with the car switched off in the "N" or "P" position, or switched on in that position.

You forgot to advice to reconnect the rubber hose to the oil cooler. I wonder how many drove off with their Pajero with that hose disconnected.

Yeah we have one I was just doing it on the driveway because the shed has a Legnum project taking up space.
