We have 3 sets of knives for our Vermeer. Our sharpener (the place is called SharpRite... cute.) makes them all match in length so we just rotate the sheer bar every 3rd change and all works out.

Hi August, know what you mean about finding good help!! Over 25 years ago l hand logged full time and had a couple guys helping me. Every time you payed them they wouldn't show up till they were broke. Couldn't count on them. So I went fully mechanized because the machines show up every day. A big fan of your channel August. Much appreciated for all the videos you do. Just something that was on my mind when it's just you and Damien. I've been doing tree work since 1990 and you and Joe are exceptional arborist and if someone is going to be on your crew they're going to have to be pretty badass. Just my opinion. Being that you live in an Area of knowledge population because I live between San Francisco and San Jose. Most guys who were exceptional either work for themselves or get paid top dollar. Assuming it will be nice to have a third man on your crew envision it is something that I do and things come my way. As for the end of your video and teaching the young folks you talking about a heart full of joy. People think I'm crazy when I say I teach young people how to be arborist at whatever age starting with the age of six because I have harnesses for children and other harnesses from over the years small , medium and large. And of course I'm proud owner of a monkey beaver every time someone tries it on because of the tree they're hooked and want to buy one. I'm not a salesman just a believer of good things. Like your KZfaq channel ..

How did I know when my phone chimed at 4:30am that it was you, lol. That's a great view you have down your driveway. I understand your need for help and be busy. My wife asked just the other day if she could get a promotion would I slow down some lol . I can also relate to the zombie. The busier I get the harder I throw myself at it. I wish I live close enough to give you a hand bud. I have already got permission from the wife to move up there to work with you for a year, lol. But the reality of that is is just not practical. Is great to see the up-and-coming arborists. My 16 year-old son is my ground man most of the time. Hes the closest thing i have to a Damien. Not to boast but we make a pretty good team. As you understand, the important thing is that he will listen to me.

Your correct. Work harder I try working harder and it works. Some times working smarter works too combine the two and what do you get ? A new morebark chipper. Now that's using the power of the monkeyBeaver. Interviews with Davey and Dearing. They want only to use their equipment. That's their gig. My favorite character from that movie was the German Shepard. He was a really loyal and dedicated pup that gave his life for his owner. I happen to own a Rottweiler, and I would hope that my dog would do the same for me, should the situation arise. Anyhow, I've been missing your videos man. I just flipped the blades on my Vermeer, and do the same with buying new so as not to have to adjust anvil. I am also down to a two man crew and thinking I should try zip recruiter, but I never have advertised and it seems like someone will always show up at the right time. Hope your family likes the new place. Wish I could try that akimbo!

Great Channel i little tip after you torque each Bolt put a hash mark in white or yellow paint marker so you know the bolt was torqued years ago i was a tech for a tool rental company

I have 6 sets of knives. All got re sharpened at same time and all are still same size to each other. So my anvil has only moved once this year.

So I watched you video on the Rope VS Chipper incidents. Sound like putting a few Chipsafe things on the rope might save lives. Anybody doing this out there?

Just a heads up, it's kinda hard on torque wrenches using them to break bolts loose. Only reason they ratchet both ways is so you can torque left hand thread fasteners.

Whenever you banged the chipper drum it sounded eerily similar to the zombie hitting the glass. Then at the end of the knife change you describe the chipper as a work horse in the same way that you said you admired the zombie. You even called the chipper a "monster"! Are you sure the Will Smith inside of you is not afraid that chipping brush will be the death of you? Oh and how long is that torque wrench? it looks longer than 4 foot.

Good to post this and be real. Not a big deal, but..... break the bolts loose with a breaker bar, not a torque wrench. Save the torque wrench for tightening only. I'm not going to read the other posts till I post this, cause I don't want be influenced. But I hope to see a few others that know this. Cool analogy august later on, carry on.
