Thanks. I appreciate how you go through step by step and explain each part to the job. You have good tools also I need to get me some of those. Which kind of chain so you recommend for a 2009 Kawasaki versys 650 ? Sprocket ?

Driven and Vortex are two of my favorites. They offer a decent selection at various budgets. Both are quality parts.

Nice video, thank you. One question thou, on my Z 650 2020 I discovered that rear sprocket wobbling a little, despite it is not loose, all nuts and bolts are tightened. Do you have any idea why it can be? The motorcycle is brand new.

Which pads to do use/ prefer for your 650? A lot of places/ books seem to have the wrong size.

shivanksolaris when I would ride from San Diego to Los Angeles on my Ninja 650 I'll be going pretty fast but it felt so light. Like I hit every bump in the road I can feel everything. I love the Ninja 650 though in fact I kept it when I got my new bike because I like it so much but my GSXR 1000 feels like a Cadillac in comparison. When you do those long road trips do you notice that?

Really considering this or the -1/+2 for my '18 Ninja 650. Can you tell any major difference in the low end with this. How does the -1/+1 compare to the -1/+2. what do you think would be better? My top speed is 125 and I am willing/happy with loosing up to 15mph to gain more accel.

+JoeSchmoeM4 I haven’t changed the front sprocket yet, still it’s currently at +1 on the rear. I can tell there is quite a bit more acceleration, even though it’s only a 2% gain. Dropping one tooth at the front will bring the total to 10%, which I’m sure will be pretty sick! With a top speed of 125mph, that would reduce your top speed 12.5mph. Check out www.gearingcommander.com to play around with different combos.

Did you end up doing it? what did you go for in the end if you did? As these have lower power and decent torque, delivered in a great way already, I'm thinking just -1 on the front. -1 +2 is usually what is done on Super Sport bikes with a lot more top end to lose.

The gain for increasing the rear is a lot less than the front. It's about a 1 to 4 ratio. -1+1 will give you right at 10% to the accleration and you can definitely feel it. It pulls really hard from take off, all the way through the gears. If you aren't looking to cruise for long distances for commuting or fuel economy, I would suggest it. Going -1+2 would bump it to about a 12% increase. The biggest difference, will be how many contact rotations the chain makes to the same sprocket tooth. More rotations = better wear. at 14/47 with 115 chain links, it takes the front 14 revolutions before the same tooth contacts the same sprocket tooth. The stock ratio is 5! Huge benefit! And the rear, is 47 revolutions, vs 23 at stock. Now, if you keep the standard chain length of 114 links on a -1+1, the revolution count drops to 7 on the front, 47 on the rear. With -1+2 sprockets and 114 links, it's 7 front revolutions, and only 8 revolutions on the rear. Significantly increasing chain and sprocket wear. So, that's where your difference comes into play. That's why I went -1+1. It's a good number to not only increase acceleration to a large degree, but also reduces sprocket wear, especially since these Vortex kits are aluminum on the rear.

A few mistakes there me thinks :) but I get what you are trying to say. I'm good with -1 front, they may well wear very slightly quicker but mine will still be steel. Modern day sprockets and chains can last a very long time if well maintained.

Hey Tremonte. I have the 2017 Ninja 650 I just ordered the Yoshimura Full exhaust system. Can I get away without running or remapping? Will I loose any performance or gas mileage. Please let me know ASAP. Appreciate your time and consideration.
