I don't know which Rock you called out from under BUT 1) they are armed with the standard SA80 Army Rifle, the one all the Infantry carry & 2) they are going on Guard duty, ofcourse they're armed, what do you expect? if some terrorist goes to break their way into the Castle, you think maybe they should ask them to wait while they go & fetch a Pike from the Collection in the Castle? or maybe try beating them to death with their Bearskin Helmet? Unless it's the Gurkhas, any other Guardsman is unarmed if they don't carry their SA80s as they've been doing for years. There hasn't been an Empire for bloody years you Fool, it's been called the Commonwealth since 1949. If you've been under your Rock since then, you better just go back under it again.

It's the standard issue British Military rifle. The Guards always carry the standard issue rifle whilst on parade, (and when deployed too). Whether it be a Lee-Enfield Bolt Action, L7A2 machine gun, or a 240mm Howitzer M1 Artillery Piece; if it's the military-wide standard issue weapon, then that's what they'll carry whilst doing their duties.
