They are both great little tractors. We also had a 35 which we sold 10 years ago, with hind sight I wish we still had it as my boys would love it now

That's a good question. Having both new and old tractors I would say I preffer the new tractors for comfort but the old ones are better to work on as they are very basic mechanics. The trouble with the new kit it that a lot of it has electronics that can't be repaired

Yeah I'm restoring a 1973 David brown 995 and it's like a best friend to me. But I'm the same as you I love the comfort of the new kit but still the old kit is the best.

@@jasonprice7707 I had ordered really nice square O rings and stuff and it blew out 2 more times so I just bought the spin on oil filter mount. It was used on later ones and you can buy new reproduction ones with a filter for like $30

Matthew Johnson I've come to the realisation that having say a modern compact utility tractor is not as good as as having a small No of 135's and also a MF 2 & 3 series (preferably with power steering and a single set of SCV's). Yes, they are old, but they are reliable, easy to maintain repair and service and you don't get Digital Error codes or Software. For a small holder like me, with sub 20 acres, I'm going old school. I can get parts on ebay etc dirt cheap, so i drop £500 and buy multiples of everything like filters etc. I'm going to pimp one of mine 2 series, and do a complete OTT upgrade, with simple electrics, LED lights / light bars, non-stick paint on the arches ;)

I just find it interesting to look back over the years at the service history

It is good to keep a clear consistent record of these things on paper, i.e the tractors book.

I write the hours and date the filter was changed on the filter houseing with a Pentel Micro Correct tippex type pen and write the hours and date in the handbook with a biro pen as well. At a glance on the filter you can see when the oil was last changed without going to look it up in the handbook but the handbook record provides a nice service history.

Don't agree. Have spent at least 10k hours driving a 135 . ploughing . mowing baling. when 135 was released it was small livestock farmers godsend. a tractor that punch well above it weight and to resign it being covered in muck 24 7 is in my oplnion a crime

i'm a small livestock farmer. Its been our yard scraper tractor for 35 years. How is that wrong? It wasn't built to be used as a museum piece and is still in better nick than many. If someone wants to restore it in the future the parts are all available so what i do with it now makes no odds
