Its because Punjab had quite a flourishing entertainment industry pre-independence of India. That is why most the poets and writers, actors and lyricist comes from Urdu and Punjabi boli background. We still see the impact after 70 years, Amazing!

It's more pure hindi and punjabi mixed than urdu. Words like maya and chandan and so much more. Usually they would be ishq or malmal or something similar.

I feel most of Indian languages are very poetic. I speak malayalam and when I listen to songs in Tamil, i often wish I knew it well so that I understood the whole depth of it, because it is such a beautiful language. And I speak hindi well so am glad I can understand hindi songs.

Guys don't usually put full hand henna. During their wedding they put some tinny henna design because it's considered auspicious. In the movie, Ranbir comes to the wedding as the bride's friend. So he applies it for fun's sake during the ceremony. No hard and fast rule about the henna though. Anyone can apply how much ever they want to apply.

I think Karan johar portrayed himself as Ranbir in this film. He mentioned in an interview that he had experience of one sided love ( for Twinkle khanna) like Ranbir in this movie. The whole hena scene reminds me of Karan's own one sided love. Usually girls do whole hand hena ..

Girls apply henna or mehndi as we say it whenever they want on any festive occasion. On wedding it is compulsory for bride and groom equally. Groom sometime do not follow through it and sometime apply in really small amount just for the sake of tradition. Here Ranbir applies in both hands because he wants to marry her and so he follows the tradition. It shows how much he wants to be the groom. So he his hand is full of mehndi.

Mrinalni Mangore no it does not. Urdu Is not a crude language,words are always symbolic not literal. Zuban pe swad means keep me in ur sweet talks. The clue is zikr which means discussion.

In Hindu culture it is pretty common. Grooms are supposed to put some kind of henna, even if just a little circle at the centre as part of the marriage ritual. Yes, it is uncommon as far as a guy relative is concerned.

@@kilikmoments3168 there's no hard and fast rule. In earlier times it used to be a full hand. But most guys these days are conscious so they only get little mehendi done as part of a necessary ritual.

Singer of "arfeen afreen" from coke studio isn't Arijit. Arijit is also a Bengali,most of the India's renown singers were Bengali... actually his name pronounce Orijit in Bengali.. And he is an outstanding singer...try to listen some of his bengali songs also...people cries hearing him live.

Lyrically, musically, and vocal performance-wise, this is one of the absolute best things to have come out of the Hindi film industry in the last decade. I’d say best but I know it’s silly to say any one song is “the best”. And JC, Ranbir did things with his facial expressions and subtle gestures that’s absolutely moving. This is peak Hindi film songs-as-storytelling.

For Ranbirs expressive eyes watch the title song from this same movie Big shout out to the subs...really well translated Guys usually dont put henna...but here Ranbir is the brides best friend and has put henna in that spirit
