Channel 4 announcers do this sometimes, usually with shows that are on at the same time every day - I think the feeling was that if you're watching Channel 4 at that time (6pm), you *know* The Simpsons is going to be on so there's no point saying it. They did something similar with Countdown as well.

Considering how well known The Simpsons is, I'd say that the Channel 4 announcers were trying to have a joke and rely on the viewers to automatically think of The Simpsons.

I remember hearing one of these... But I never noticed it before, I can't beleive it. They really can say anything and we'll auto-correct it in our heads it seems.

I think this is some kinda inside joke that's going on in the studio. Still hilarious when they say the name wrong though. My favourite has to be the Flintstones ( 1:53 ). He sounded so confident when he said it.

Judging by the synopsis, these are from a run of Season 17. They're mockery is very appropriate.

I think the point is that if your watching this on TV, youll believe what you hear on and come to the conclusion that your wrong and misheard before you admit that the TV announcer was wrong.

It amazes me that some people are getting worked up about this. I can accept not finding it funny; humour is subjective. But getting annoyed by it seems pathetic. It's, what, a few seconds every day? Mute your tv or switch channel temporarily. Complaining about it is ridiculous, it's really just light hearted fun. Personally I look forward to the numerous variations.

@LeftOfToday No. Chanel 4 is a Public Service broadcaster. It gets most of it's money from advertising, but the government give them some funding too which allows them to produce the sort of programes that other commercial broadcasters can't.

Who still watches the simpsons on channel 4? Sky one all the way.
