I had a board a couple of years ago called the Player by Adams, a shaper local to me that was fairly similar. It was perhaps a little more performance orientated but still had a fair bit of volume, double hip and I rode it as a quad. I loved it but as I'm sure many of us do, I sold it to fund the next "magic stick". I still miss it. Haha.

Amazing review!!! Just an opinion, I’m between a beginner and intermediate, at 67kg and 1,77m height, would you suggest the ultra joe in a 5,11 or a 6,1?

i was thinking of buying one of these but i wondered how well they go in 5-6ft surf say on a point break? i would be surfing beaches and points and wanted something to cover those bases.

Great review, about to make my purchase. I’m 5,8 beginning end of the intermediate level and I’m 160 pounds. Any recs on specs? Im leaning towards the stock 5’9 at 34 liters. Have been surfing a cymatic that I bought at 5’7 31 liters and it’s just a bit above my wheelhouse... any advice would be great, cheers!

How’s this compare to a pod mod Benny (or anyone else)? Got a pod original, love it but looking for a board for thigh high plus?

Hi, this channel is wonderful. Can you answer me a question? I have 5′ 11" and 165lb. The bobby quad 6'2 / 6'4 serves for beginner that a small wave surf and a surf without much maneuver. Or would Avarage Joe/Ultra Joe be better? Thank you very much

So, a groveler board can be a bigger (6ft. Plus) size board? I thought they were only meant for smaller size kind of waves and only worked in a shorter range of lenght boards.

Hey Ben! Question for you, I already have 2 shorts boards and 2 fish all 5'5--5'8 and 30--31.5L..... and 2 midlengths.... I'm looking for a short chunky board that I can take out when the waves are flat in shape, I surf a couple point breaks even they get overhead, the wave is still fairly flat and anything with rocker will slow you down Would you recommend the Average Joe or Ultra Joe? I'm leaning average joe because of the extra volume but concerned it doesn't like to turn at all

Time and money my man! This is already a very expensive hobby (I buy every board)....and I've got young kids....and a growing business...and and. Plus, I'm not that interesting to watch IMHO :)

Hey Benny, for an intermediate surfer who lives in Bondi and being 75kg 5"8. Currently looking for a new short board with good volume for the smaller summer days, but still manages those steeper waves / heavier beach breaks around Sydney occasionally. I was looking at this and the Rocket Wide, but not sure what to go for? Was looking at roughly 5"9 board size for Ultra ND 5"10 for Rocket Wide. Do you have any thoughts on what might suit?

I ride similar waves that you mention, similar skill set, and usually ride a 5’10” PodMod @35l when it’s knee to head high. It’s getting close to time to replace that board, would the Ultra Joe be a good fit, same volume, or perhaps another board you would recommend?

How does it compare to a Puddle Jumper?

Hey there, similar/versatile wave range but quite a different ride! The Lost Puddle Jumper is much more precise. It feels more high performance but for small to medium size waves. The Channel Islands Ultra Joe is not as nimble...just much more nimble (and broader wave range) vs. its predecessor, the Channel Islands Average Joe. Hope that helps! Anyone else ridden both? Jump in with your opinion!

Hi Benny, I notice this board is PU with ultra-light glassing, has it been durable enough? Or maybe you have so many boards that it doesn't matter if they don't last long :)
