In 1994, Melanie Brown was one of 600 hopeful young women who auditioned to join the Spice Girls - a group that became the world's most famous young female band of all time.
Since then Mel B - or Scary Spice - has been performing and presenting and has now turned her hand to writing and campaigning, becoming a patron of the Domestic Abuse charity, Women's Aid.
Her memoir which has just been published is entitled "Brutally Honest" and addresses her ten-year marriage which ended in a bitter divorce last year. Her former husband denies her allegations of abuse and says he'll be answering them in full. Minnie Stephenson went to meet her.

Narcissistic abuse is real. Narcissists/sociopaths/psychopaths are everywhere and a lot more people than you would think are living lives with these people and being abused by them.

MEL B you are so strong. Don't stop talking about your story. I am a victim of emotional and physical abuse by my sister Cheryl. She has also emotionally abused my dad and his wife. She thought my dad's 3rd wife was poisoning him. My brother and i didn't believe her. When she tried to get my dad out of the assistant living facility because my brother and i were involved in his care, she assaulted the doctor and a staff worker. She went to court. Because my brother is dead now, i don't know what in court. A family member said that she might have been sued. Please pray for my sister Cheryl who has been receiving social security disability for 6 to 7 years.

Her story ain't necessarily the truth. Remember she dropped the charges against him because he had evidence against her. (porno with her kids nanny) don't say he made her do it. She's had lots of lesbian affairs. All her kids are to different men. She's broke so any sensationalism will sell her book.

Because shes a liar and takes advantage of people herself. She takes away from the real victims of domestic violence. She tried to lie in divorce court about her husband being abusive and lost her child for it. Tell your story but label it the fiction it so obviously is.

To all the nasty comments here - time to look in the mirror. You either don't like this because (a) you are a controller or abuser yourself and don't want people waking up to who you are; or (b) you are BEING abused and this is far too close to home and you're not able / ready to do anything about it.

Anyone that is in a domestic violence relationship will only know why it's not easy to just walk away. There's NO such thing or accidentally hitting or it only happening 1 time. Get out! because it will scar you not just physically but emotionally and mentally. There's so much help out there for women, men and children in households that live to tell about it...but far to many that it's just to late. Keeping children in an environment where they hear and witness violence will cause them too...a whole entire life of emotional and mental trauma 💔 Some people believe that the children are to young and either don't know what's going on or won't remember it...trust me children know alot more than we give them credit for. I pray 🙏with every ounce of my spiritual strength...that you get out and find a safe place 🙏

What's horrible about all violence against woman is that if u aren't in a 'relationship" the police can't help u. So it's almost like u are forced to take things into ur own hands. Awful world we live in when a man can abuse woman and subject children to violence drugs and harm and get away with it.

What I dont understand is why a worldly strong mature woman with 2 ex husbands can be caught up in this mess?? I believe her 3rd husband was abusive but I dont think the situation can be entirely blamed on him. I think she was probably just as abusive and she was abusing drugs. ,Its almost like some women seek out these relationships. A normal sensible, responsible man is just too boring for them. They are attracted to bad boys and bad boy behaviour, its exciting for them. Its a well known phenomenon of girls liking bad boys. We need to get to the bottom of it.

You are saying all these because you are a woman. You have let emotions overcome your sense of judgements. Where is the evidence he abused her. Nothing was presented in court. Nothing. She blocked access to her hospital records because she knew it would expose all her lies. She is a drug addict and this was proven in court. She tried to hide it from the public but was forced to admit it. She then put the blame on Belafonte that he was the person that introduced her to drugs. She is a liar and there are many things she lied about. Women like you are the causes of misfortune. Stop defending women like Mel who destroy men for their own selfish reasons. Come on! Wake up!

Two sides to every story......put them in a room, both attached to lie detectors, and let the experts determine what the REAL TRUTH is.... was Mel a serial cheater, was she always a faithful wife, did she every lie to her husband about her motives and activities? There are many ways to be an abusive partner, but only some are recognised by the law.
