This is actually rather simple. Britain was never really in a position to dictate anything to the EU. It's like when you end your Netflix subscription and then try to negotiate whether you can still access certain content for less of a fee. It makes no sense. The unpopular reality is, no matter who you send to Brussels, there won't be a different or a better deal. The issue is that Britain is too proud to accept they are not in a good position to negotiate and that they'll have to accept what has been offered. They still believe that they can enter this situation with a swollen chest while the EU is just shaking their head. Unless the UK is accepting that they are not as important and great as they see themselves, they will literally dig their own grave. Of course the EU in itself is also not an economic paradise so it's hard to predict where the EU and the UK will be in 10-15 years time. But for now, it's the UK's false proud and lack of realistic reflection on their own position that will potentially put them in a terrible position in the near future.

Dear GB, the last 30 months have been really entertaining. Great show, great story, great actors. Some of them should be nominated for the Oscar. But now I am getting tired. Could you please come to the end now? Kind regards An EU citizen from the continent.

The people voted to leave the EU. Any deal allowing the UK to stay within any of the EU's institutions, the single market, etc is completely irrelevant to the mandate given. You might even argue it undermines the mandate entirely. If you can negotiate tariff free trade, great, but it isn't a requirement and if parliament cannot agree to a deal then there is only one option that fulfils the legal obligation they have. Now Channel 4 might be extremely biased towards remaining, and you might disagree with leaving entirely, but that is where Parliament stands. Corbyn thinks this is a power play opportunity and it'll backfire spectacularly, for even if he wins, he is in no better position on BREXIT than May. He'll face the exact same issues.

Put simply what is going to happen is what has been happening for 2 years, anything they can do to avoid brexit....

I'm getting sick of these MPs wasting time on trying to push through their way of staying in the eu. They're even trying to take WTO (what people voted for and in law) out of the equation. Once out the eu this whole system needs an overhaul.

Most British businesses work in the service industry and can utilise the technological and digital infrastructure in order to grow and expand. There is no negotiation there is no bargaining power this the deal that Theresa May could get based on 27 countries that remain in the EU. I mean what is it with both politicians and the media. A deal was only 'needed' when we shocked everyone and voted leave. A deal is designed purely to stop detachment and deregulation.

US here. Not to turn the tables, but WTF is going on over there? Was this voted down because the terms were deemed unacceptable, or was it voted down by remainers, or both? And what is the path to a better deal when you don't have any leverage?

As I figured the deal would be voted down. So this means a no deal or each faction nation declaring independence from the UK is 75% likely, because clearly the EU stated that is the only deal that UK would get without being a member of the EU. If a no deal takes place possibly what's next is EU citizens in the UK could be deported back to EU countries, and UK citizens in the EU could be deported back to the UK because there's no treaty and whatever goods that were transported under that treaty are now null & void. It is a shame that humans in the east/west continue to fight each other over the semantics, literally we human's have been fighting for over 10,000 years and all we've done its kick-the-can-down-the-road. We must solve the world's problems in order to sustain peace and existence otherwise we will cause our own destruction. It is time for new system, capitalism nor socialism will solve the problem. No longer shall one human determine another human's worth that should be in the hands of the person of whose life it is, for it is your life it should be in your hands. P.S. to say this is a majority is a bit skewed because the electorate amount is 46,501,241 and the total amount of people who voted in the referendum is 33,551,983 which leaves 12,949,258 who have a right to get a say for it involves their life everyone must vote to see the true majority in the UK fore this is a serious matter

The government had 2 and a half years to think about all possibilities. What have they been doing all these years without clarity for EU citizens living in the uK and Bris living in the EU, and how to trade with the EU?

They keep saying it is the will of the people, they keep saying it is the law that we must leave. These are both lies, all polling data suggests the UK is now majority remain, and the EU has ruled that by law we can stay if we cancel it. The leave campaign lied about NHS funding and made it a talking point then immediately turned around after the vote and said they will never do that. That means people voted on a false mandate. The leave campaign violated campaign finance laws to secure their vote. Either of these things should trigger a second referendum in my view.

How long does it take for 634 politicians to alter the the direction of a tanker. They are not sure they are still talking about it. They then had a snap election where the UK voters voted again for both liberal and conservative MP's whom 80% that won stated they supported Article 50 Brexit. So the voters so far have voted twice for leave. 500 MP's then voted for the European Union Withdrawal Act 2018, which specifically says that if May did not reach a deal the UK would exit the EU March 29th, 2019 with no deal this is the law.
