Paul Chowdhry is a no holds barred comedian, who sold out Wembley with his ‘Live Innit’ stand-up tour, making him the first British-Asian comedian to do so.
(Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)
Paul is now on tour with his new show, ‘Family Friendly Comedian’, hoping that this style of comedy won't get him cancelled. He speaks to Krishnan about how comedy has evolved, creating stand-up material in a cancel culture age and diversity in the media.

Across cultures and all levels of Britishness, he doesn't discriminate. I don't know if he doesn't care or what insecurities he has internally but on the surface he seems like he doesn't give a sh!t and it feels genuine.

Amazing how 2 Indian men are discussing the racism towards south Asians in general as well as highlighting how the P word is derogatory almost the same as the N word out of all honesty. Unfortunately, within British society South Asians are still to this date a huge outcast .. especially with very bad preconceived stereotypes which the men face the most. In addition , within dating or most domains fashion , media etc it is all pretty much black and white . Out of all honesty from what I’ve witnessed both black and white folk despise south Asians. But nobody really talks about it.

Times have changed, i'm a white male that was born in the 70's i never met anyone other than white until i joined the British Forces. i spent 25 years and travelled the world. There is good and bad in anyone and it has f@ck all to with color. I welcome anyone of any color into my life and i have been welcomed on more occaisions than i can count where my color has been welcomed apart from in England. There is an issue with white communities in England and a lack of diversity, not here in here in Scotland but then the English have always hated the Scots. I've had first experience of discrimination in the early 90's being from Scotland where i preferred to be with Black or Asian soldiers rather than the English, it is well known that the Scots/Welsh Guards or the Gurkha's and Sikhs were more feared than any English Regiments. Evidence of this can be found if you would wish to research at how many Special Forces were Scottish and or from accents over the last 30 years that were not British born and bred. I love Paul Chowdry, he's exactly what we need to break down barriers but barriers need to broken at both ends.

It's weird what Krishnan says about Bernard Manning... I was brought up in the 70s and 80s in a strictly white area - a rural, well-to-do community where there was a fair amount of casual racism and I never found Manning funny. Not because of his racism (which had become normalized), but because I perceived subconsciously an aggression behind his language. Clearly, he was being aggressive towards minorities, and gradually I understood what he was about. Anyway, come to Peterborough, Paul: it has great infrastructure, which at the very least makes it easy to escape from!

Hi Paul, I think you are doing your cousin Navin a slight disservice. EVERY child of all nationalities, not just Asian seemed to have auditioned for that role initially in Madam Sousatzka. How do I know..? Navin was part of a drama group called Bristol Youth Theatre, run by an extremely talented drama teacher called Sally Noble. It was in her tiny flat in Clifton/Redland where we all read for the part and that was Navin’s first(and standout) audition.

They did go British bashing, when Brits went and still do go to Europe, and I'm not talking as tourists, but I'm talking about in societal places where the working class of a given place congregate, I say that because were you not living in working class communities? Of course you were. Football is the test then, where society meets then for European working class peoples. Yes when the brits go abroad they got a leathering, likely more often than you'd have gone and got one here! Try follow your football team to Rome and see what happens to you for being British. A few of will be brit bashed, a few stabbed in the buttocks, even flame throwers etc The difference is they didn't hang around too long, looking for for more of it Wouldn't be worth it, nor could they afford to upticks, and live in some one else's country for the best part, Go to Marseille and tell some Algerians your an English man and see what happens, they'll get a good hiding more often than Asians ever did in Britain number for number and time spent on an unwelcome soil. You see it's a common trait around the world, foreigners are generally not welcome on mass. Maybe a bit of tourism, as it puts in and it's often seasonal, there's a break it's tolerated easier. Francis Bacon Lord Verulam, the Godfather of modern science, named it as one of the quickest ways to agitate and make a people angry was for governments to invite foreigners in to communities. The smartest men in Europe knew that in the 1600s! Why? It's the same all over the world. Common sense, and natural from China to Chile. You only squeal a lot because the liberal / leftist establishment, their religion, and it is, plus the bankers that back them ( and their USURY ) be they labourites or conservative all allow you to. It's encouraged, it keeps the heat off them doesn't it, divide and conquer, divert the attention from the stock jobbers and tax eaters, onto those we've made factions out of. but the facts are you're often squealing about what is in reality one of the most tolerant countries for foreigners to live in the world pound for pound. I wonder how they'd fair these working class people you lived around, if they upsticked in the same numbers into the countries your ancestors left?? And in other countries you often wouldn't get to squeal. Your voice would neither be heard or accepted. Count yourselves lucky you can mock and squeal about those that are overall perhaps the most tolerant people in Europe to foreigners. Of course the proofs in the pudding , you wouldn't be here if you didn't know more or less what I've said is the case. At which point we've got to admit you've some nerve.

This is a very dumb take. How many white people are in India full stop? The media is supposed to represent the country. If you go into a normal hospital, look at how many doctors and nurses are not white. This is not reflected in Holby City for example. Same with your average area of residents. There will be a mixture of races and this is not represented on television or in film.

Non-indigenous and foreigner are not necessarily the same thing. So how far back do you want to go when you want to draw the line? As an indigenous native of these islands I might regard the Celts, the Romano Celts, the Angles, the Saxons, the Normans, the Huguenots etc., as non-indigenous foreigners. @@benbow7 yeah because the Maori were the first humans on Aotearoa. The ancestors of the so called indigenous population of these islands were not the first humans to inhabit these islands( Aborigines) so everyone else after the hunter gatherers is an immigrant or descended from one.
