You are very selective in your portrayal of the history of this conflict. In 2014 it was russia that made an internal conflict an international conflict when it invaded ukraine in 2014. It broke several international trreaties doing so. The US and UK didn't intervene at the time although they were garantors of the territoral integrity of ukraine. Sadly i think too there's a chance it could happen if putin doesn't get what he wants soon, ukraine doesn'tbhave nuclear power and the west will never join the war no matter what, and putin really doesn't have anything to fear or lose at this point, besides russia has small tactical nukes that can be used against the ukraninan military, I doubt it'll be use on cities because the civilian death toll would be too high, even just using tactical nukes on military targets would bring enough fear to submit a whole population, but there's only hope this won't happen
