NTU's eighth zero-energy building is Asia's largest wooden building

Жыл бұрынAsia’s biggest wooden building has opened its doors. It's the eighth building in Nanyang Technological University to be certified zero energy, which means it consumes as much energy as it produces. Named after the Greek goddess of the Earth Gaia, the new facility will house the business faculty. Half of Singapore's zero-energy buildings are located on the NTU campus. The university aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2035.

Wood is beautiful. But I'm more scared of fire.

It won't last long in Singapore's warm humid climate. It looks and smells nice in the beginning but once the decay and infestation set in the building will start to have a lot of maintenance problems.

They do say that the building needs to be maintained every 5 years. It's costly compared to concrete building, nonetheless a good experiment and will be remembered as one of the pioneering projects in Singapore.

Looks good only but poor air flow for the students. Not conducive. Cut down so many nice trees just to make way for this. 😢
