Huh? Napoleon did not help Ireland or wales in fact a third of British soldiers fighting him were Irish and as well as large majority being Welsh. They were also known to be some of the fiercest fighters in the BEF so it’s not like they were reluctant to kill Frenchmen. The French Republic made a failed attempt to invade Ireland and wales but was scared away by Welsh women dressing up as soldiers which tricked them into believing the British army sent against them was too large to fight. There was the Irish legion in french service but it was mostly a propaganda stunt and a middle finger to British sovereignty. By the end of the Napoleonic wars the Irish foreign legion was mostly composed of Germans, Swiss and Frenchmen. It was a pretty green uniform to attract foolish young men to volunteer. Overall most Irish soldiers in the Napoleonic wars fought for Britain not against it.

Whilst it's true that Napoleon did many great things, he also did many terrible things (slavery and sexism comes to mind, sadly). So, I wouldn't love Napoleon, but I wouldn't hate him either. I read an anecdote of Jean Louis Vignes, one of the first French settlers in Southern California, settled in Los Angeles in 1827 or 1832. Monsieur Vignes was a Napoleonic War veteran, he served in the ranks of the Imperial Guard. Monsieur Vignes became one of pioneers of Californian winery, a street in the Little Tokyo District is named in his honor.

@@srfrg9707 Je tiens à préciser que les forces Françaises combattaient contre une coalition composée de plusieurs nations c'est d'ailleurs ce qui a mené à la défaite de la bataille de Waterloo : la Grande Armée se bâtait bien contre les Anglais ,ils étaient sur le point de gagner .Mais l'armée Prussienne arriva surpassant grandement le nombres d'unités françaises ,à savoir que les troupes britanniques étaient déjà en supériorité numérique .Mais je suis presque sûr que si Napoléon n'aurait pas fait reculer ses troupes cette bataille aurait été une victoire.
