Part 1.
This record was given to me with a load of 78's when a contractor happen to hear I collected records with "that dog on" . I did not not give it much thought and put it with the others in my workshop. I was sorting out the collection and put it on the Dulcello and this sound of birds came out of the wooden horn along with this cello. the whole thing for the time would have been a feat of engineering as the recoding would have been done on a wax disc and a van the size of a removal van would have had to come along to capture the moment.
Beatrice Harrison played with Elgar so it is said and was known to have made recording of this nature.
MrSCPoly says:
The recording is from a BBC Outside Broadcast somewhere between 19 May 1924 and the war years when the recording of the aeroplane noise (UK bombers) and the nightingale was recorded. BBC iPplayer has some more details.
