In the corporate world, do you usually get tasks delegated to you? Or do you get to choose what tasks you do each week/day

I feel it's very different dependent on role and workplace. In the past I've been delegated tasks and it wasn't really the environment for me to take initiative and do different things. However, now in my role I am across our team plan for the FY and I prioritise tasks myself. I will then ask my manager if she needs any help with anything / if anything urgent comes up that I need to work on instead and then reprioritise. I hope that makes sense! I definitely prefer the latter, being able to have autonomy is a lot more fulfilling.
