Sonic Adventure 2 (Japanese: ソニックアドベンチャー2 Hepburn: Sonikku Adobenchā Tsū?) is a platform video game developed by Sonic Team USA and published by Sega for the Dreamcast console and the last Sonic game to be released for a Sega console and is a sequel to 1998's Sonic Adventure. It was released in North America, Europe, and Japan in June 2001 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Sonic the Hedgehog series. The game was ported to the Nintendo GameCube and re-titled Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (ソニックアドベンチャー2 バトル Sonikku Adobenchā Tsū Batoru?), with brand-new features as well as minor changes in the level design. The original game and content from Battle was released in high-definition on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade in October 2012. A version for Microsoft Windows was released in November 2012.
The game takes place after the events of its predecessing game: Sonic Adventure. The series antagonist Doctor Eggman releases Shadow the Hedgehog, who joins Eggman and treasure hunter Rouge the Bat to steal the seven Chaos Emeralds. The game's story focuses on the protagonists Sonic the Hedgehog, Knuckles the Echidna and Miles "Tails" Prower as they attempt to stop Eggman and Shadow from collecting the Chaos Emeralds.

sega are very aware that the chao garden has been highly anticipated to show up in a new game. we've had them showing up in tons of promotional material in recent years and yet we never quite get the chao themselves. frontiers was definitely a missed opportunity, but with how much we're actually seeing them in sonic x shadow generations i feel like it's getting a lot more realistic. even if we're just rescuing chao across levels and collecting them for some watered down chao garden (which is more likely than a real chao garden, since pulling it off with high quality models would be harder to do), it would mean a hell of a lot for the future of chao. we might not get the same level of precision over the appearance and stats of our chao ever again, but if they can make it work even with these sorts of limitations then i'll be happy.

I imagine the Chao in Generations will be more like the Koco. Serving as both collectables and NPCs in White Space for the Shadow Generations open zone. I haven't seen any evidence for virtual pet mechanics yet, but I would be pleasantly surprised if there's more going on there.

Chao are a huge part of my childhood. I spent years as a kid making OCs of Chao combined with Pikmin, which i called Chaomin. Im hyped to hopefully get a game focused on Chao.

If they don’t add a Chao Garden in Sonic × Shadow Generations it would have been a massive missed opportunity. I mean, it works perfectly with the alignment mechanic, with the 2 Sonics as the hero characters and Shadow as the dark character. If they give so much attention to Chao in this game but don’t add a Chao Garden, I’ll be so disappointed. ALSO DROP DASH IN GENERATIONS LETS GOOOOOO

Nahh in adventure 2, the Chao is influenced heavily by who's raising it. They can start looking like their caretakers like taking sonics spikes or nights hairstyle (even thought nights isn't in adventure 2) if it was in this game, the Chao won't hav much diversity seeing as we have 3 "sonics".

Don't be too excited by those Midori leaks. Apparently Midori is actually MysticDistance and before becoming Midori, he made some fake leaks for attention and that got exposed and resulted in him deactivated as MysticDistance before becoming Midori. Midori's leaks that were true were apparently older leaks from roughly 2021ish.

Ahhh I cannot WAIT to preorder this next month/when I get paid next! I'm getting the switch physical version for the Gerald journal, and hoping the "deluxe pass" isn't pre-order exclusive so I can still get the extra shadow level, bgm, etc. And the chao returning? I hope the rescue the chao brings them back to the garden to interact with. Besides breeding that should be how you get the different color variants instead of the black market. Rescue the chao should have a requirement like not taking damage until the end of the stage. Netflix has a game platform?

I am a player of Phantasy Star Online 2 (both Base and New Genesis) and I really hope there is a way to import the model of your Chao or at least a basic Chao. Back in PSO, I had a Chao MAG and he and I went everywhere fighting monsters. Even then the Chao Garden very likely coming back is like its Christmas morning and no one told me!

If there is a Chao Garden, It would be kinda weird (in my opinion) with alignment, in SA2, there were 3 dark characters and 3 hero ones, so the characters you could pick were equal, in Sonic X Shadow, I'm pretty sure that would be 2 heroes and (both Sonics) 1 dark (Shadow), so there isn't that many options to pick from if you'd want a dark chao. it probably wouldn't affect anything but I felt like talking about it.

Would be cool if the missions end up being rescue the chao. Unlock that same chao you rescued and receive special benefits from that chao for your gameplay. Like the normal chaos chao, rescue it and charge up a bar for a temporary Invincibility, and Dark chao, rescue it and it'll helps defeat badniks with Sonic

I get people wanting the chao garden back in a sonic game but considering how complex the chao garden mechanics can be I can understand why SEGA has shied away from it, if you look into it, the chao garden in SA1 and SA2 are pretty deep in terms of mechanics and fully optional, to implement a new chao garden would require a lot of time all for a side mode that a large amount of players won't fully engage with, not to say they shouldn't try but still
