I can safely say this is the first time I've ever heard "higgledy-piggledy" used in a wire tutorial. :D Cool tutorial.
@Wireguild5 жыл бұрын
We have to all love the higgledy and piggledy (although a pain in the neck) goes everywhere he does. I'm sure we all have friends like this so you just have to open your arms wide and embrace them both (giggle)

the one on my left hand is my wedding ring and although it looks like a wire wrap its actually an antique soldered ring, the one on my right hand is based on my dragons eye tutorial available through my Etsy site www.etsy.com/ie/listing/166312265

I love everything you've shared in this and other tutorials! Thank you! I can understand that bright copper wire will eventually darken or that you can treat them to be dark. I tend to like bright wire as a personal preference - how do you keep it bright? My grandmother had a beautiful pendant which, through the years, darkened but still was recognizable as copper - like an old penny. If I don't treat the new copper wire, will it patina to an old penny shade or to a darker shade like you have?
@Wireguild5 жыл бұрын
It will take a long time to get as dark as when using a liver of sulfur but it will darken, You can use a silver dip that will remove the tarnish to brighten pieces or a silver cloth and give them a rub this will bring back the shine. I use a silver cloth on the patina pieces as it helps keep the bright top note nice and bright. You can also use renaissance wax to clean and protect your copper.

thamk u so much for sharing this creative idea. how is this tool called you use to create the core of the bead?
@Wireguild3 жыл бұрын
Its a coil-a-ma-jig but I think they also make them under the name coiling gizmo try a search on Amazon or ask at your local hobby shop they are very neat little do dads!

Wow these are gorgeous. I have never made anything with wire although I want to badly. You make this look like something a beginner like me could do. I love your beads but how do you get the color to change? I love the finished look so much. Is there a video that shows how to get the wire a different color? You got a new sub tysm for sharing. I think I can make one of the beads with practice.

When you start always remember " There are no mistakes, only new designs" make it a mantra and no matter how self critical you are (we all are) when a friend or relative complements something you have made, believe what they are saying don't start contradicting them and pointing out perceived faults take the compliment to heart! Have fun with your new adventure

How do you harden them so they maintain their shape? I love these beads and would like to make my own, but I can see how easily a non-hardened bead would crush or bend. Thanks for the tutorial.
@Wireguild4 жыл бұрын
You can harden wire by putting it in a barreller or tumbler. It does not need to be in very long as the metal quickly work hardens.
@cozyvamp4 жыл бұрын
@@Wireguild Thank you! That's just what I needed to know. For things I can hammer a bit, it's not an issue, but a hammer would be death on these beads. /:)
