That effect in the castle was almost like a blindfolded challenge, nice job!

The question you had about the goal-lint: the "everything is higher than it looks" effect only works on the tile-layers, the goal-lint was on the sprite layer. (second: the question blocks are tile-objects until they are triggered, then they are temporarily sprites for the bump effect, creating the nice jump from displaced to non-displaced and back again)

In my mind this is what I think is happening, this is Mario's afterlife, he doesn't exist to most people, to his enemies, he is seen. He can't interact with mushrooms, then Mario begins to walk around, that is his soul, his spirit... His soul can interact with the power ups. Mario thinks he is still alive, but he isn't. He just possesses yoshi, Mario is just a silhouette, but yoshi is a different kind of silhouette... He keeps the coins, somehow... His surroundings get different to him. The background gets pixelized and starts getting a silhouette background, meaning the places are abandoned, left behind, dark and empty... The two kind of pixels at the end of the castle is yoshi, which he lost, he died soon after, they look like eyes inverted in color, black eye whites and white pupils... The dead Mario sprite climbing means he is floating around the castle, haunting it, the Soto abandoning it, leaving it to rot even more... Yes, this is Mario, dead, haunting the mushroom kingdom, I will go on with the story in the next episode, stay poppin' y'all.
