Hey guys, I’m Rabea. I'm the lead guitarist in Toska, Frog Leap & Dorje where I write music, make songs and have a great time with my mates. Absolutely. I wouldn't even think about touching a chapman guitar if Rabea weren't involved. Rob has really disappointed me.

I ordered one and upon delivery can only say I was pretty underwhelmed. The bright red finish as in the above video is a much less vibrant colour in reality. It's a lot more orange than bright vibrant red, from some angles almost looks brown. The paint finish inside the cutaways for the pickup was a bit rough. The bridge didn't sit perfectly centred within the cutaway and there was a tiny blemish on the black finish on the bridge where the silver metal was visible. I boxed it straight back up and organised a return. Can't comment on how it played. I didn't want to risk marking it incase that affected my ability to return it. It's a Pro model guitar costing over £800. I expected a bit better. I have a PRS SE Custom 24, also £800 guitar. The finish is flawless on that by comparison. Ironically they both come from exactly the same factory. Either way. If you're drawn to the looks based on this video you may well be disappointed with what the courier brings.

as always: lovely playing such an excellent looking and sounding guitar. At this point I think you may be the single best part of marketing for Chapman :) I'm a freaking bass player (though I own and play some of our 6 string friends) and I now have your signature models sitting in a wishlist so that I can constantly revisit and have the opportunity to stress buy a phenomenally made instrument.

That is a nice lookin axe! Chapman have really stepped it up in recent years. They have always been cool value for the money but now you guys have been really making them nice. That roasted maple and flame top are sweet! Plus I always dug the backwards Tele(esque) headstock shape.

That's a banger of an instrument. The pick ups are killer. I've been wanting to hear the pearly gates through high gain. And the single coils are some of the best I've ever heard.

Wow, I didn't expect such a clear and characteristic sound from the Pro. I'm deeply impressed. Most of 'em can do hi gain and shred stuff, but the clean tone relly got me. "Hybrid" rally seems to nail it here. I think I know which guitar I'm getting next...

Super interesting guitar. Love the Color. Actually, both Colors are great. Love the sound of every pick ups. Like you were saying, very versatile guitar. And you can get a lot of different sound on the same guitar, that is quite good. Thanks for showing.

When I read hybrid I thought of a blendable piezo bridge. That would make it really versitile for any given situation on stage. Bit still a stunning guitar. I have a ML1 from the first ones at Thomann. Love Chapmann guitars! And love your playing too!!! Cheers from Munich.

Love it, amazing alternative to the suhr and fender ultra ‘super strat’ style.... Buuuuut! I’d like some more conventional colour options! If it just came in black aswell would be much more appealing, the 2 finishes are a bit too ‘out there’ for my tastes! If it had 1 or 2 standard colours or a natural finish, at that price it would blow the suhr’s and fender ultras out the water! Loving the variety of clean tones you can’t get on it!

You have this interesting thing about your playing that always makes me feel all tingly inside. It's this mixolydian-y thing or something, I dunno I can't quite describe it. How you can be playing some phrygian stuff or ripping on some pentatonic lick and then it goes into this Smashing Pumpkins-esque type of deal, very major-y but with this interesting flavor and twist. Obviously I'm not versed in music theory lol, but I love it.

2020 Chapman’s look 🔥. That black ML3 immediately jumped out at me, but now there’s the silver one too...getting them to the states can’t happen soon enough.

It's the attic right above the Anderton's recording studio, they bang on the ceiling when he's being too loud. They haven't noticed all this gear is missing yet.

I am excited about their use of their increased use of branded pickups. The signature pickups always put me off a ghost fret but this very well might change my mind.

Totally agree. £800 for a guitar Chapman-branded pickups? I have an ML3 Pro Traditional, swapping out the pickups made a massive difference. The Chapman pickups just aren't as good, no matter what the company may have tried to make out.

That's a Sung - iL BS-108 tremolo. That brand makes parts for them to sell directly and also other brands buy them and use them on their products. They are kind of mid to low end quality. They're not utter crap for sure.

Fun fact: about 13 hours ago, I thought to myself: "Why not go for double Classic Stack Plus?" for the middle and neck of my Strat. Pearly Gates was already 99 % Sure. So erm... (It's an Ashstrat).

Just love the sound of those pickups. Just what i wanted but not in that color. Please do some more color options and especially in white and im home. And please do a regular headstock not a reverse one. Then with those pickups and right color and classic headstock you have a real competitor at that price and specs to the Fender strat. Then i pick that/yours over the Fender. With those pickups and specs you are almost there, just so close and with these changes you are the winner.

Ну что, кто-то ещё, до сих пор не понял, что абсолютно пох$й на модель гитары, а просто надо уметь играть (ну, и правильная звукозапись рулит)... A Rabea, во всех смыслах - гений! Well, someone else still has not realized that the guitar model is absolutely not important, but just need to be able to play (and the correct sound recording rules too:)... Rabea, in every sense - a genius!

I picked up a Chapman at guitar guitar .. I was shocked at the weight of the thing .. do they have concrete in them ? I’ve never felt a guitar so heavy. This looks and sounds great .. but I suspect you could make a Squire sound great.

It's weird you didn't put the SD Custom '59 Hybrid in the bridge, given the name. That would have made the guitar even more versatile

Love this guitar. Are you playing the Phoenix Red (that's what I'm guessing) or the Cali Sunset and can you advise on looks? I love a lot of the colours available (Cali, Phoenix and Purple) but ofc I've only seen them in pics (no dealers around here that have any of these in stock), which look best IRL?

The Pearly Gates in the bridge is only 8.10k. I've never thought it was hot enough. I understand it's completely subjective, but I've always preferred the JB in the bridge. Especially in something like this.

Can't recommend the Pro Hybrid. I dislike everything about it except the neck. The concept is great: super playable axe which can do both classic, glassy strat tones and PAF type crunch. Problem is the SD stacked 'single coils' sound very much like humbuckers. That plus the pot/cap values means it always sounds honky and you never get that strat like clarity (great cruched up though). Also, they put a proprietary FR type trem on it, but no locking nuts, so it never stays in tune, and you lose a load of sustain. Worse of both worlds. Also the body is waaaay thicker and bigger than the ML1 trad, so it weighs a ton. Plus it's encased in thick poly rather than the lovely open pore finish on other Pro models. Also, I love the neck (very big hands)... but many don't. This style of guitar feels more like it wants a thinner, shreddy neck. So what you've basically got is an Ibanez RG, which weighs a ton, won't stay in tune, and has a boat neck which would be more at home on a 50s Tele. In fact I think I've just convinced myself to sell it ... except I adore the neck.

I think it's telling that Bea has a Schaller on his, and not the Chapman stock bridge. Also, the ML1 Pro X has done away with it and put a Wilkinson one on. A bit telling, much like how the Pro range slowly swapped out Chapman pickups for Seymour Duncans.

@Metallex Update. I bought the ML1 pro Traditional... put this neck on it, swapped the Chapman pups... best guitar ever! The Hybrid bidy with the thin shreddy neck from the Traditional feel much better suited too. I'll probably sell the latter though.
