Also there is a team sport aspect. you usually train at a gym with people. those guys are your team. genuinely less toxic then team sports. if you lose in team sports it effects the whole team. you get a whole lot less support from your team when you fail. In MMA most of your teammates will encourage you after a loss. It does get frustrating as a leftist politically, but there are a lot more progressives than you would think.

That opening bit is one of my favorites.

I fight MMA I've trained with some great fighters. The biggest group of nerds. no shit. We had a three hour conversation about fucking anime. I found out when I went to corner a couple of my teammates that one of them unironicaly watches alvin and the chipmunks the new cartoon.

I neither know nor care about MMA except for this hour where I am going to be very interested.
