Not gonna lie, I think the introduction with Wriothesley is pretty awesome, they nailed the choices with his voice in English and Japanese.

Even when he says “ I hope you become a better father” with such conviction, you can still hear a slight pain in his voice for the realization the daughter will later have. That’s true character depth! Awesome!

Honestly I love Wriothesley because, out of the whole Genshin cast, he feels the most "real" His fighting style isnt very high-fantasy, he's kind but also strict, he's a little witty, he has a penchant for tea, he doesnt speak in eloquencies or slang... like if you just disregard the world of Genshin for a second, he totally feels like he could be a real person

We all knew where this was going, and it still hit hard in the feels.

He may look scary, cold and intimidating outside but he's really gentle, kind and soft deep inside. I love how his teaser highlighted that fact on him.

I was taken away from my mother when I was a child. Police came. I was in panic. I had no answers. I cried so much. Wrio is a legend for what he did. He is what I needed.

He always prioritizes justice. Even though he arrested the girl's father for committing a crime, he still cares about his daughter. Hoyoverse really made this character as perfect as possible and in great detail. I hope I get him 🛐🛐🛐

Spoilers below : The fact that he protects the children with so much care because he himself is an orphan and wants to assure the kids that their parents love them before he takes them away...

Finally after all those years, Kaeya has a friend now.

So, no story or voiceline spoilers, but this hits so much harder when you know what he went through. The humility and grace he handles sensitive situations with is amazing.

I’ve been waiting for this teaser and I’m so excited for him!! He’s so considerate of children, it’s heartwarming and yet the chills felt from his words at the end.. Manifesting Wriothesley to come early!!

I already knew he'd definitely be one of the more "angsty" characters in the game but it's interesting to see the direction hoyoverse decided to turn to for his personality. He didn't have a "good" past, he wasn't raised by two loving parents in a loving household, he's lived in the streets and has been sentence for a crime he admitted guilty to yet he's a fully functioning human being with good morals. Not to mention he's working as a prison warden to put other people in line. I haven't played his story quest or have him as one of my characters but when I do, I'm sure I'll be saving his quest for a good day so I can focus in analyzing his personality, past, and what path he has chosen for himself.

At the beginning I wasn't sure if I wanted to pull for him, but when we met him in the 4.1 AQ all doubts faded. I thought he'd be the typical cold character and nothing more. But he ended up being very talkative, has a great sense of humor and he's very kind and also badass. I love his play style and everything, so I had to skip Neuvillete (still hurts) to make sure I had the guaranteed for him. I still don't know whether to pull for his weapon or not, but he's coming home! Good luck, everyone!

that last line "next time you see your daughter, I hope you'll have become a better father" it really hit me. thought my daddy issues were behind me but apparently not. The voice acting was amazing, the animations were amazing, and overall I think Rizzly's character is amazing. Good luck to everyone pulling on his banner :)

I’m late to this teaser but omg did I almost shed tears watching this. I have a deadbeat and hurtful biological father, he doesn’t pay child support, owing up over 7,000 right now and it continues to pile as he doesn’t pay and quits job to avoid being found to pay, nor treat me like his child. Makes me put out his cigarettes and cook for him, have to pick up lot cigarettes he drops while at his house to prevent fires. He texts me..once a month, on the dot, so that he can “prove” he hasn’t abandoned me if brought to court. He allowed so much trauma and hurt to be inflicted on me, by his adult friends, my brother and his animals he kept. I would be left in the car without ac on hot days, and without heating on colds days..I don’t even have my own room at his house (its more of like a storage closet with 2 WHOLE LAWNMOWERS in it). Wriothesley reminds me so much of my amazing step-father, every month he racks up the money total of my biological dads child support he owes, and grabbing evidence and stuff for if a court case happens. He’s always confronted my biological dad about how he needs to straighten himself out and pay up or else he would adopt me and pay it off himself. I never understood all that as a child in my early years, my step-dad just told me I would be fine. the way “I hope you become a better father” is said by Wriothesley, that was like my step-dad speaking there. It’s the fact that Wriothesley is a orphan, JUST LIKE MY STEPDAD, they both share the same motive of making sure these kids in issues with custody are safe and won’t be orphans themselves. I always ask my step dad, “why did you decide to be my step-father?” he told me “I knew what I was getting into, all that family drama, but I did it because I saw you as my daughter ever since I first met you and your mother” he wanted to help me and give me a father figure that my bio dad refused to be. That and the little girl, who reminds me SO much of my younger self, had me in tears over this teaser. I never expect a Genshin teaser to be so sentimental to me for being a source of relatedness to me, but this one will forever be in my heart.

Joe really nailed Wrothesley's personality! Wriothesley has quickly become a favorite character. I'm looking forward to getting him and learning more about him in his story quest!

I love his character. It's like a balance between being harsh and sympathetic. I think as an emissary of solitary inquity makes him appear ruthless, but wishing the man to be a better father once he's free, hints to Wriothesley's empathetic side too. Hope I'll be able to pull this guy 😀 ❄️ 🩵 ❄️

I uh.. I find it *interesting* we're getting this subplot in a trailer like this.. like Wrio-boy is an Orphan, Arlecchino is called "Father" by her children.. Idk maybe I'm stretching but with Fontaine's rule of 3 (3 Fatui Siblings, 3 Thrones at the Opera House Courtyard, 3 gods of Hydro, Erinneyes being a reference to the 3 Fates of Greek myth.) Wriothesley was so kind and considerate so as not to traumatise the little kid even though he was there to collect her daddy, the ending line tho somethnig for the new inmate to contemplate.

I feel like Wriothesley must be the one person in Fontaine who truly understands the delicate balance there is between morals and righteousness, that is, what Justice actually should be. Not even Neuvillette seems to have it figured out nor does he follow this sense of justice like Wriothesley does. Hoyo really did hit the nail with Wriothesley's introduction in the story and this trailer as well, his VA both in English and Japanese are amazing as well. I. Can't. Wait. 🙏 He's coming home. The duality of his characterization is outstanding. This teaser really expressed it well in just under two minutes!

Am I the only one wondering what the dad actually did to be exiled to Meropide? He's very cooperative with the arrest, and loving of his daughter. He doesn't seem the type to actually commit a crime, basically. And even if he did, not one serious enough to call for banishment. Either way, he's gonna be out for milk for a while...
