This "drama" has been going on since before the skins were released, then day 1 im spammed with videos on youtube and reddit posts like: "Modernia skin worth it" or "Crown skin best skin in the game". If people where really upset they wouldnt buy it.

Marian's Gacha skin is a permanent in-lore change for her, whereas Crown's is a rare transformation that requires a certain condition. Marian looks like that going forward and majority of the player base won't have access to it. If they made the skin just purchasable in the shop with no time limit, then maybe we might still give it a pass.

I don't care that much about Crow's skin, it is a temporary transformation that she probably only uses in critical moments, it is not her standard appearance. The price still seems exorbitant to me, but it seems that Shift up is not going to change it, and I am not the one to tell people how to use their money. But with Marian there I do have a problem because that is going to be her standard appearance ( at least for now) behind a paywall and it will not be available to obtain for future players.

Bro $10 more and I could be an entire AAA game like Stellar Blade. Not only is the price crazy but the fact that modernia's transformation is lore based and not a one time thing is straight scummy bullshit. The only way would be a skin rerun that maintains pity each rerun that way everyone would have access to it over time.

I personally don't have an issue with skins behind a paywall, it's the specific paywall the Marian skin is on I have an issue with. I'm not a fan of the Gacha Skin idea but this is something they're going forward with and I've accepted that. My issue is the Marian Skin being behind the "Gacha Paywall" which could run you about $60 if this was on a pass like the Snow White skin for $20, I'd be behind that, since it seems to be a permanent change. Crown's Skin is a rare transformation so I see why that skin is behind the Gacha Paywall (I don't like it, but I get it). Also, I'm speaking as someone who paid for the Crown Skin even after not thinking I'd ever buy one of these so the money isn't an issue for me, it's the idea that permanent transformation could be locked behind the higher paywall where others wouldn't be able to get it at any time later and at a reasonable price ($20).

Z , these costumes are from the event story not the new chapters. So you need to do those before the event is over to see the story in game before it's over.

They'll make updated versions of a character they already have in the game from a specific fight. They'll change their type, kit and alter the animations of the same fight, and release them as a new unit.

People were complaining not long ago that gacha skins were too expensive and that the value wasn’t there. In my opinion with these two new skins (I bought both) it makes the purchase feel more worth it and I will gladly support this company with my money.

I dont get it; I'd rather a 50 dollar skin than another whole ass gacha for a character, or a treasure for fucking pilgrims. Compared to those alternatives, I much prefer what we got. They can easily put the skins in the shop.

I'm gonna be fine with it if they do gacha costume reruns at the same time as the character rerun since this transformation is connected to the character and the story. So we getting NakKing in the next Crown character rerun, hopefully they consider it.

New Modernia could be a potential New Year's pilgrim if they want the players to spend or whale for a new unit just after Christmas Event but they thought transformation or character development with power up is = to a skin so here we are....

....I think people are being a bit presumptuous here. The game has been out for 1.5 years - a good gacha game doesn't want to promote already released skins too early because for good marketing, they're gonna wait until they don't have as much new content to have an event where you can get limited-event characters (probably excluding collaboration characters from different IPs) and skins again. To be worried that they haven't made skins available again at only 1.5 years into the game is pretty silly. I guess I can see people who have FOMO being worried because based on evidence, they haven't shown they'd do so YET, but based on my fairly limited mobile game experience, there's no way they won't again in the future; it's just gonna be a long wait. And I mention my limited experience because I'm pretty sure any one who has played more mobile/gacha games than I have should know this as well.

To me the point is that since marian had development in lore but instead of getting her new appearance as a reward for completing the latest chapter it’s locked behind 60$ wall An example would be Mash from the other Gacha game Fate Grand Order where she gets lore development but it’s not locked as a new character nither is it paywalled but u must complete the story to gain and unlock her new appearance

Yeah im still salty they made those skins rather than new units ESPECIALLY for modernia, crown can get away with it somewhat since its a one time every blue moon thing but if modernia is really going to keep looking like this going forward in the story that feels kind of like a low blow rub salt in the wound move(scummy). Sorry, I don't want more Alters unless they're for SR characters or units with really bad kits. I'd rather get new characters or characters that are stuck in NPC jail. I'd feel differently if we weren't completely bottlenecked by skill upgrade resources and gear upgrade resources. But for instance, having to raise both Scarlet and Scarlet Black Shadow was annoying. I could only raise Crown because I was able to skill reset a dozen Nikkes that I don't use as often and pool their skill books into Crown instead.

It's more than JUST modernia and Crown is my issue. But they give players THREE free costume rolls per applicable event. I HAVENT gotten one of these skins once in 4 or 5 events because this shit is behind a paywall. Literally EVERY costume in the game locked behind a paywall AND limited access during the event ONLY.

Honestly I got a lot of free time in nikke. I mean I did want crown and modernia skin. But since I only have modernia and I got like 200 hours in the game having not paid really anything. I threw em 60 bucks. I would got crown too for when I eventually pull her. But I also bought stellar blade. The game is essentially free to play and from what I can't tell ( I'm still kind of new) fairly generous with thier gotcha system. So throwing them some money for a fairly decent game seems ok in my book.

It kinda irks me.... Especialy Marian, f&cking "Here, it's her ultimate form. Pay for it, or it's fomo" Crown is understandable, since it's temporary buff on Alva particles Crown. In my opinion SU knew what they were doing with this. I never before felt like I'm missing out on skiping character skin. We had Rupee, Doro and few others gatcha outfits, but to implement a costume that is in essence paywalled character progression, is malicious to me. I don't wanna be a doomer, but Shift Up was better before going public. It's not the end of the world of course, the whole 1,5 anni is great, we're not pressed to grind harder or drop rates being reduced for stuff, things balooning in price, but I just hope that little skin thing is not a sign of the future developments. (It's kinda terryfying how fast c29/30 were released. 2 months after 27/28. As low spender I have little hope of catching up if this is a new schedule.)

I find it hard to understand the complainers. They are just skins, a visual thing, and they do not contribute to gameplay what-so-ever. I can understand that the modernia skin could have been a new character, but it would be much more difficult for players, to build an additional character, and devs to balance the "new modernia". Also, I think that they will make the "Modernia Transformation" and "Naked King" into treasure skills, it is much more fitting that way instead of just creating new nikkes with the same characters.

Well, I don't think is fair specially when the skins are tied to the story. TBH 99% of the time I don't care but this time I had to get the Modernia skin because that's how she will look going forward in this story. I might get Crown for the same reason as well. So, to me they kind of force that on us. I know we are not obligated to buy it but like Zxous said once their gone is gone. Mordernia already had a skin, so she does not need another one when we all know there are other characters that can benefit from it. That was my take on it, but all I want is SSR Rapi!

I think the best solution is put these skins at the shop to buy. I noticed that some skins cost 20 dollars for certain Nikke's like Maiden and Poli for example. Couldn't we just get our skins over there. I feel like that's a friendly solution. Once a gacha costume thing is over send them over there for standard purchase. You'd Just have to wait a while.

It's a giant L from Shift Up. I still didn't get to the newest story chapters, but if Modernia stays permanently in A GACHA SKIN from now, as "oh well she transformed and looks like this now", and we didn't get that skin for free (since her new form would be canon event now) it's a big fat NO from me, and i will gladly quit and delete my account over this. Same story for Crown. Locking canon story event skins behind a paywall (gacha as well mind you) is a NO. And let's be honest, look at those two skins, and all the other character skins - NOT ALTERNATE VERSIONS OF THE CHARACTERS but skins. They are, from the quality side of things (model / effects / etc), on par with new characters and not skins. Anyways, i'm done yapping. Been a good ride.
