In the books, Bonnie and Damon were supposed to be together. But the showrunner and writers decided against it.

It's the fact that Bonnie ALWAYS held him accountable and didn't just bend over backwards and forget like Elena did, him and Bonnie complimented each other so well it was insane, and their chemistry.. omfg. The amount of respect Damon had for bonnie throughout the show was just beautiful and when he was around her, it really made me see that Damon did change but only when he wasn't with Elena, Julie plec's racist ass really wasted so much potential.

Bamon gives me the same vibes as Stelena lmao, the obviously healthier ship with way more chemistry and raw love even if they're not together as a couple. Not to mention how both ships involve Stefan and Bonnie who in my opinion brought out the best version of Elena and Damon. Anyone with eyes can see it and if Julei Plec had half a brain she would've made them endgame.

I think their relationship is really unique. They have that relationship that isnt completely romantic but isnt completely platonic either ,so theyre stuck in the middle, like those type of friends that have soooo much chemestry that no one else has in the friend group and everyone expects them to date at some point.

I always loved Damon and Bonnie in the show. I'm aware of the books, but Ian and Kat had EXCELLENT chemistry. They could have definitely sold it. But instead they went with Steroline, where imo, Candice and Paul's kind of chemistry, while good, never sold it for me as far as romance goes.

on one hand, i was kind of ok with the fact that bonnie and damon’s friendship didn’t bloom into something more the way caroline and stefan’s friendship did, solely because i really just liked seeing opposite gender characters just be strictly friends (since these friendships always turn into something more-) but i wouldn’t have hated it if they got together. i also feel like bonnie and damon should’ve had what stefan and caroline did. imo, bonnie and damon had way more potential when it came to the whole “friends to lovers” trope that was played out with stefan and caroline. and this is no hate to the ship ofc, but i feel like Stefan and caroline were better as just friends and their romantic relationship felt kinda forced- meanwhile, bonnie and damon had all this chemistry, (and obviously the writers were aware of this bc of the constant bonnie x damon jokes) and yet, we got nothing 😭 sorry about the long comment but yeah 😀

I’ve never seen this show in my life (I’m not going to watch it because of what TVD producers did to Kat) and seeing Damon and Bonnie scenes out of context have me completely convinced that a romantic relationship between them was canon.

Sorry but it ALWAYS irks me how so called "fans" of the show target the only black woman as a "bestie" for every guy they find desirable. Even when there's sus moments in the show that clearly states this black woman is NOT "just besties" with that man. Like I LOVE female/male friendships and we sorely NEED more representation of that in media but why not have it in Stefan and Caroline? Because that was one hella forced romantic relationship and spurred by heteronormativity. Or say, why did they need to make Elena date her ex's brother? Why couldn't they have let Lexi be on longer - her friendship with Stefan was great. But NO they always target Bonnie & Damon's relationship that has romantic undertones (and even when they were soulmates in the books lmao) when there are sooo many other avenues the writers could've taken and the fans too.

I haven't read the books, but read in an article or something that in the books, Damon and Bonnie end up together. If that's true that means the producers intentionally went against canon to keep them apart, even when every scene they had together was just slapping us in the face with their chemistry. We were well and truly robbed!

Steroline had the chemistry of a peanut butter sandwich but THEY were endgame and not Bamon? And Bonnie brought the best out of Damon, we actually saw him make better choices while he was toxic and impulsive with Elena.

I loved that they toed the line between friends and lovers, it kept their relationship fresh and interesting

I love their friendship. It’s so unexpected based on the first few seasons but I love it.

I loved them as friends but in the book Damon and Bonnie ends up I guess. Also, Ian and Kate actually pitched the idea to the writers as they both were great friends and they felt that Damon and Bonnie could be more but Julie said no, obviously that was her racism. Tbh, everyone says that Damon changed because of Elena but with elena Damon didn't do the right thing, he would just control himself or hide his truth so that Elena would be happy and therefore he always felt insecure and ended up messing up his relationship even more. But he was his truest self with Bonnie. He had so many chances of let Bonnie die where Elena wouldn't have ever known that he decided to let go of Bonnie like when Kai tried killing her and Damon fought with everything to save Bonnie. Honestly, it wasn't Elena who made Damon selfless, it was Liz, Bonnie, Stefan, Rose. Elena always expected him to be like Stefan. Honestly, Delena could have become a good relationship but after Elena died the growth of delena died too, they became stale and it was all about their sexual chemistry.
