5:50 I knew about saying "died by" suicide but I hadn't heard "completed" over "committed". I like it. I also like that he says commited like two sentences later. Gotta just do the best you can when you're trying to be thoughtful about your language. Edit: just realized that when he says "committed" he was quoting his dad. Anyway. Good podcast Neal.

Another great one. What I like about all of these is you can tell Neal knows these people either as friends or contemporaries that he respects. Even Charlamagne who isn't a stand up really, can riff and roll with a bit when Neal is trying to lighten it up. Also I can really tell there is love here, no judgement, just friends talking. I have a couple of people in my life like this, gotta cherish the folks who ground you and help you bust these blocks. If not bust, then at the least build something good out of them.

Write down a list of all the worst things that can happen if you go to therapy. Then make a list of all the positive things that can come through therapy and see which list is longer. If it's the positive side, you should go.

Same here, but I’m even more scared of how I could turn out without therapy. I just started about a week ago and I know I was terrified going in, and I still went with my Mother, but once it was one on one with the therapist, I felt way more comfortable just through conversations. I would suggest that once you face your fears, you realize it’s not as bad as you imagined. Best of love and luck to those struggling with whatever you’re going through, it will get better. 🫡

Thank you again for bringing this shit to life. My father literally watched me struggle for decades before he dropped the bomb that he was hospitalized and given insulin shock treatment at 17 years old. He literally didn’t think this information was relevant to my struggle. How fucking arrogantly narcissistic. We have failed the black community utterly. I am happy that it is finally happening but again we have fallen too far short for too long. Hopefully it is not too late for humanity. Thank you again.

love yall two and loving this podcast... i happen to be a mental health counselor so these podcasts with men supporting men are fn fantastic to me but more so bc i live with anxiety and early developmental trauma symptoms that i have to manage, too so true about the fact that we are the first generation to have the luxury/privilege/opportunity/human evolution position/destiny and knowledge base to heal ourselves of emotional and mental dysregulation patterns. very exciting! and look how quickly we take to it and immediately want to share the liberating knowledge with others :)

Thank you, Neal Brennan, for normalizing crippling anxiety! Yass! I'm currently playing endless hours of a vampire game to assuage the stress of trying to deal with my blocks. I awake to panic attacks and insidious thoughts. The flop sweat is real. Medication helps with that, but also cancels my appetite so now I look like a stick figure with dumb t*ts.

Imposter Syndrome: Goddam that's REAL. I have been in my industry over a decade. I am in demand and well-payed for it. People seek me out and want my work - BUT - I think that there are a thousand better qualified people that could do my job. I can list a dozens of reasons WHY I SHOULDN'T feel like an imposter but it only takes a couple of the negatives about myself for me to convince myself why I am going to lose it all tomorrow or why I don't deserve what I have. Maybe it is time for me to talk to someone professional about why I feel this way because every single family or friend I talk to about this thinks I am crazy. Great talk. Thanks Neal and Charlamagne!

It is kind of incredible the things that I do because I feel like I could lose this all at any moment: I work ALL THE TIME. I forgo 99% of family events to get the hours in. To create more. To earn more. To put it all away for when I wont have the ability to do it anymore.
