When Tiger Woods was popular in golf as a Black in a White dominant sport it was cool. When Catlin Clark is popular in basketball as a White in a Black dominant sport it's a problem. The double standard is so extreme.

I think that she realizes that she has nothing to gain by saying anything negative about them and she may TRULY really look up to these ladies. She doesn't want to say anything bad. She didn't ASK for all this attention. She just got it. Women will always tear each other down though. Its sad. I get the resentment, I DO! But damn.

Not to mention Angel's applauding the cheap shot on Caitlin by her teammate Chennady C(h)arter who is now getting to fly on a charter flight because of all the eyes and fans Clark has brought to the WNBA. The telling stat an announcer brought up the other day was that the top 9 games viewership-wise in the WNBA this year were ALL Indiana Fever games. And I'm sure that that is now the top 10 games after the Fever's last outing. And they're not even really good.

I’m not going to go that far. I’m a fan of her, but being white in a majority black sport definitely makes her more marketable. A great athlete that is a racial minority in their sport is going to sell better. Tiger Woods is a perfect example. If he was white would he still be a great player? Yes! Would he have elevated the game with the youth the way that he did? No!
@billhorstkamp98
@billhorstkamp98 14 күн бұрын
@@bencarter8423 I think Tiger Woods was so marketable because he was so good. I think if you talked to Tiger Woods, he would tell you he got some real pushback when he first started. I remember when he won his first masters and he had to host the dinner next year. Fuzzy Zeller said I hope the boy doesn’t serve fried chicken or something. Absolutely horrible. I think it has more to do with that. She’s not 6’5” tall or something. She’s more relatable. And yes, being white might have something to do with that also. I guess they could’ve done it with Diana Tarasi, but they didn’t.. have a great day

Caitlin Clark is an average looking white woman, so what? I could care less if she's white, black or yellow or red. Her style and the results speak for themselves. Caitlin Clark is popular because she can shoot really well and the powers that be like her as a symbol of what they think success should look like. Whether or not she is awesome at professional basketball remains to be seen. There are players that are way better than Caitlin throughout the league. It's a little strange that they've not been marketed to the extent that Caitlin has. She has not won big at any level yet. Jordan, Magic, Bird, LeBron, Kobe, etc. all actually LED their teams to major victories. They were inspirational leaders whose performances and results spoke for them. Then the market adjusted to meet their value. Clark shoots really well and has never won big, yet there is a big market waiting to embrace her before she has done anything. To the people who say she is the greatest college basketball player ever...whatever floats your boat, but that is silly. If Caitlin at this point in her career was as good as her hype, no one would be complaining. How do you accomplish what University of South Carolina accomplished in the NCAA's - led by one of the Captain America's of women sports - and still find yourself as a side story to the emergence of a player who hasn't won anything? This disconnect does not reflect well on how straight people see in this culture, and the distortion is rooted in bias. I respect Caitlin Clarke work, talent, and skill, but Sheryl Swoopes, Dawn Staley, Diana Taurasi, Lisa Leslie, Becky Hammond, and Cynthia Cooper, Mia Moore, Sue Bird, Lauren Jackson, and many other greats set the foundation for Clarke--even by her own admission. Could anyone who has ever watched Cheryl Miller in her prime actually be impressed by Clark? So, yes, projecting unprecedented value onto Caitlin that she hasn't actually earned yet is a problem, but, yeah, she'll take the money, because that is the market. No body ever said the market was grounded in reality, though.

@marca.8081
@marca.8081 10 күн бұрын
That's from Southern Democrat segregation. If someone was 25% or more black, he or she was considered to be black, and therefore subject to the restrictions of segregation. People unwittingly perpetuate that "racial" standard today out of ignorance about where it started. Tiger Woods is 50% black, so he is considered to be black, instead of half black and half Asian Wouldn't it be nice if we could all just be humans instead of being divided into all these demographic groups? One human race with different variations but still just one race. Once we believe in different races competing with one another, then racism is inevitable.

Exactly. Caitlin is not a great player because she is white, but because she EARNED IT, just like Bird was not one of the greats because he is white, but because he EARNED IT. Tiger Woods was not the best golfer in the world (Maybe best ever, I am not sure) because he is black, but because he is THAT fucking good at playing golf. Race is not relevant, what matters is skill, talent, dedication and putting the work in. Caitlin Clark has the first 3 locked down hard and she sure as hell puts the work in to maximize her results. All these haters, including women in the WNBA, might consider that Caitlin Clark is in the spotlight because she broke EVERY freaking record in a women's college basketball. It's called earning the respect.

Imagine the backlash we would see if a white woman went out and started yelling that they hate black folk. It should not happen, either way. I've watched a LOT of vids on KZfaq and I've met a lot of people during the last few decades that prove to me that all people are not like that. For those with integrity and common sense, thank you for being role models.

to be real with you, I have seen dudes like that who handle everything like children, and funny enough the manbaby to loser ratio inbetween is pretty equal. Women are exponentially worse though because like Ryan said, they hold onto that shit for a long time whereas guys can accept its no longer in the present and move on.

@@IceMarbles Oh, no doubt there are many men like that. But in general, petty is more a female trait. Even my female friends would admit that. I think we're seeing it play out with so much of what's coming directly from WNBA players, coaches and media. The league has such a great opportunity and they are blowing it because they are jealous of the attention Caitlin is getting that they didn't get.
