From 1984 draft until the 1990 draft MJ force-flipped the NBA because guys had to be replaced & others had to take a backseat to get their 10yrs before quitting. He made everyone step up, and Barkley, Dream, Ewing, and all those slightly older & slightly younger guys had to turn up too. The drunks & druggies had to tap out, and the off-season lazy-boys had to work or get embarrassed for 4qtrs, regularly. The craziest part is MJ took interior teams, on paper & film, to the finals & 3-peated. Outside of Jordan, Pippen & Grant, Chicago was average-at-best. All of those Western Conference teams were deep, talented, and just better overall...on paper & film. After Moses led Philly to the top, Philly wasted Barkley, then wasted Bubba Chuck. They didn't even try to give them Championship calibre help. Iverson willed Philly to face Kobe & Shaq, but no one was stopping either one of those 3. That's 1 man vs 2 w/hella backup on both ends. The Lakers & Blazers were LOADED, but MJ only needed 2 guys who could consistently have an impact. Everyone else hustled and played their role.
