Will agree with me when I say Charles isn't getting knocked down everytime someone is hitting him. Everyone is saying justin had him like 3 different times just because he fell down. I wonder if Olivera is even getting hurt really. Like maybe he’s just dropping to his back to lure the guy into submissions or even to make his fights more interesting. It’s amazing how he gets hurt every fight then proceeds to walk through the guy the next couple minutes.

I give Olivera a lot of credit. He didn’t let the scale/weight issue get to him; he took care of business like the great fighter he is! I believe a guy like him will use this unfortunate scale experience to further recommit himself and be even more dominant than he was before! P.S. We’ve learned subsequently, that the scale he used where he was staying, was mis calibrated, thus giving him a false sense of security!

I’d really like to see Charles flip the script on the division. Imagine a world where he declined a title match a called out Connor, like Dustin did. Yeah, first thing I thought of was the missed PPV points on two title defenses. If Dana acknowledged the possibility of scale tampering, I hope he is giving Charles some money under the table to make things right. An American fighter would have been up in arms about the lost payments.

Both Charles and Justin threw caution at the wind and started scrapping from the opening bell. There wasn't a whole lot of reservation from either man. But to see Olivera drop Gaethje and then jump on him for the finish was pretty spectacular when most people were discounting Charles' striking. Seeing how Charles would perform if placed on his back is so much more intriguing now because his opponents seem paralyzed in fear by his BJJ credentials. Khabib may not return, but him and Islam may be the next best alternative.

We always here that a fighter is as good as his last fight, but if you look at charles' last so many fights, that dude is a terminator! He is unreal! He just walks people down and destroys them. Look how he walked right through dustin p. And just submitted him, and how he beat chandler, and Justin!

I think we need to rewrite the Oliveira story to begin with. Frankly the more that Oliveira dominates the division in ways more spectacular than Khabib did the more I want to see them fight vs. GSP. He was 12-0 and joins the UFC Before his current run his UFC record was 10-8-1 Combined he was a 22-8-1 fighter. To compare Gaethje and Chandler don't necessarily have stellar UFC only records and Charles' record frankly isn't that bad before his current run, especially because he wasn't fighting bums in the UFC. Now he has won 11 straight with only 1 going to decision which was a dismantling of Tony Ferguson who is probably the only guy in the division Oliveira can't submit easily, and his record is 33-8-1 so he's won over 80% of his professional fights. At this point I can only conclude that Oliveira before his current run was a good to decent fighter who was shit on a lot, but the current Oliveira is a great fighter, perhaps nobody in the division can touch him. People make a lot of his knockdowns but half of them if not more are just him recovering vs. fighting wobbled and getting put to sleep. He has nasty striking, better than Khabib's frankly, and he seems to be the best MMA submission artist ever and think about how hard it is to submit someone in the UFC and that RNC was not a give up by Gaethje, that was real put you to sleep choke.

Charles has completely shown the world he is the real deal the respect needs to be placed on his name. The betting number were insane looking back on it now. What a shame he lost the belt.

The fact he was cheated out of his belt and among many other things on his mind, and still didn't let it deture him from his goal, is absolutely phenomenal. They need to INVESTIGATE this, even if they ARE .5 lbs off it shouldn't cost them a title. They need a scale of priority that's structured. People forget that Charles Oliveira is one of the few fighters we've had a chance to see develop and grow and go through the hard times from so young. Charles is younger than Justin. So when people say we've seen Charles quit as a young man, that's because we've seen Charles learn on the job. A lot of fighters have entered the UFC when they've already had their experiences elsewhere and gone through their challenges and grown. Justin was in his late 20s when we first saw him the the UFC. Charles was 20.

This is a simple facts: Difference between Oliveira and khabib is, [khabib plays it safe] by shooting for TD's seconds into the first round and doesn't stop after that. Oliveira doesn't, Oliveira loves to fight, he loves the stand up game, reason for why he gets hit or hurt. If Oliveira would play it safe, you would see him with no cuts or bruises and look dominant as well like khabib. At the end of the day Fans will love Oliveira more than they loved khabib, why, bc Oliveira takes risks making the his fights WAY more interesting to watch, BUT there will always be haters with excuses to bash on Oliveira and that facts.

Casual here. I think Charles has the advantage of being able to take a hit and fall down without anyone chasing him to the ground. It almost looked like he was falling in order to recover because he knows how much respect his BJJ has, and therefore gets to just lay there to recover.

Also that fight was for a vacant title, Figueirdo was not yet the champion. It’s SO AMAZING what a difference self-belief and confidence makes! If you believe you still have a chance, you will push through in situations where you would’ve quit before. Charles is a monster. When he gets his cut in order, he will be even more gnarly. I feel like he really thought he was on weight, and to dominate a brutal opponent like Gaethje with the fact that you can’t win the belt and you have lost a lot of money running through your head… that is simply GREATNESS. He may not be great ever again after this fight… or he may be great FROM NOW ON. No matter what, we have been witness to some of the greatest internal performances we’ve ever seen. Oliveira is my favourite fighter at the moment but Khabib haters are something else man. Khabib faced far less adversity than Oliveira did against both Poirier and Gaethje. Olvieria is definitely coming for that lightweight goat status tho, and he isn't far off.

Im sorry but i have to disagree with the domination comparison, olivera got rocked, sure, but he stood there with the person he should not have been standing with, and arguably rocked him multiple times, and dropped justin, and then made him tap in the first round

CO is a beast and needs the respect. JG was sloppy af from the first swing! JG had a few chances but he was just slugging it out like a basic brawler. A minute before the win, CO realized he had the match and shredded JG.

I was very impressed by Charles, im not gonna lie. Think about his headspace going into this fight, knowing before you even stepped into the ring you were going to be stripped of your tittle and that the reason was because you fucked up, and yet he still didn't allow that to shake him. Many fighters who don't make weight, either because they didn't lose enough weigh earlier on in the training camp which forced them to do even more ridiculous cutting just before the fight meaning that they are just gassed before they even step into the ring, because they are mentally down knowing they they fucked up, or the combination of the two - has lead to many guys losing those despite having a weight advantage. The headfuck in this case had to have been even more brutal seeing as how not only did he screw up and not make weight, but he was a mere half pound over, and most importantly - he stepped into the ring knowing full well that he was already stripped of his fuckin belt regardless of what happened in the ring! I'm not giving him an excuse to lose if he had done so, but lets not pretend that in this fight when you take all that and combine with the fact Justin is also a great fighter to boot, it was significantly more probable that Charles was gonna lose this, and he didn't. Justin landed a couple of great punches, including one that rocked Charles, but the champ recovered, and when he returned the favor a couple minutes later - he took full advantage and eventually got the sub tap. Great fight, rest of the card kinda blew, but man both those guys fought well, may not have been the longest but it was still a pretty good showing by Justin in defeat.

Yeah, it's good when we come away from fights learning something and it's now impossible to ignore that Charles Oliveira is the king of Khabib's division. He's the best. Now the McGregor thing will probably constantly be gumming up the works and nobody could fault these guys for wanting that payday but the only fight in the lightweight division now that is interesting for Charles is Islam. We need that fight and then we can all turn our eyes to pressuring the Eagle. That should be the fight for the championship. I will say this we need to know Charles is clean. I'm getting a Khamzat vibe with that guy at 155. At 155 he feels like an awesome 170lber. This is three killer lightweights top of the food chain that have caught him, hurt him and then got stopped by him. I don't know what's more impressive his ability to take a punch and recover or the long list of skills he has.

It’s interesting watching Charles against strikers because he can be reckless with out consequences because when he gets dropped they’re scared to get on him to finish even if he’s hurt.. only way Justin could’ve one is if he knocked him out completely cold.. would be so interesting to see him against a guy like Islam or Dariush. If they get position on top of him they won’t be scared like Justin or even Dustin was. Interesting what happens after that point, does Oliveira have such better BJJ that he’d submit Islam or Dariush? One thing Chael will never do is kick a guy when they're down, and once they've been punished her just moves on to discussing how they perform after. I do love that. Charles weight miss cost him huge, and it wasn't a miss that leads to an advantage. It was the type of miss that can be debilitating with a second cut and being off only half a pound. Then he went out walked through fire and stomped Justin. That's a true champion right there. Charles has the greatest run in lightweight history. Not the most dominant, but the most important by opponents and finishes. It's not particularly close.

I've said this for a long time no one seems to understand that 7-8 losses came before or at the age of 25. He fought Jim miller, and Donald Cerrone at 20, Frankie Edgar and Cub Swanson at the ages of 21-23 fought Max Holloway, Jeremy Stephens, and Anthony Pettis at the ages of 24-25 when you're fighting a killer row like that in your early 20s a few losses to grow can be forgiven for sure. Dude is a killer and probably the GOAT at 155
