Thank you for this guide. This is helpful, especially the shuttle information. As a Marylander, I often consider Charleston as a drivable option, though the itineraries are frequently a little more expensive than leaving from Baltimore or of course FL.

We did not see any rental car services/drop-off at the cruise terminal and Google Maps indicates that the closest rental car companies are about 1.5 miles away.

What if I taxi or Uber to the port?

The taxi or ride share should be able to enter the port area to drop you off. After drop off, everything would be the same after the part where we parked our vehicle.
