just on the point around 12:30 Havertz is a better left 8 DEFENSIVELY than Xhaka was. Xhaka was only really effective in the defensive third. He didn't often apply much pressure, except for more last ditch attempts. On the ball it's a different story, tbc on whether Havertz can do more. But the issue with Rice at 6 is that the team tends to lack vertical passing which Partey and Xhaka excel at. Rice doesn't often pass between the lines which allows defences to settle into position.

I love Rice as 8 as he is very good at the press, box to box and even attacking input with his drive and runs. Good with both feet. We also need a top 6, maybe a winger and defender. If they had not had points deducted they would have been on the same points as Bournemouth and Brighton and not far behind West Ham, so by no means a walk in the park.

Hey Charles, I'm with you on no big changes for the start of next season, as we have been amazing this year, we have a winning formula in the usual starting 14 or 15 players, what we need to do to is keep new signings back until they have learnt how MA wants them to play in this team, got things to click in their unit and between them and the units around them. It's a big learning curve as we know. A good pre-season will help, but with the internationals going on at the time there will be players missing, meaning no getting to play in a unit with them or learn how to play in a unit around them. Last thing we need is a new starting line up at the start of the season, regardless of who we bring in.

I think the idea of Sesko makes a lot of sense. Havertz deserves to carry on at 9 and I think if we were to sign an Isak or a 'Rice signing' as you guys called it in that position I think it'd undo all the good work the club has done with Kai and upset his confidence...now if Havertz hadn't shown the levels up front, then I think we really would have gone in for a big money, proven striker, but I think what I like about it best is it shows our class yet again in our we treat our players - Eddie who you'd imagine Sesko would probably replace it's not a case of replacing Eddie for a similar age player suggesting he wasn't good enough to be in the squad, it's a signing for the future and allows Eddie to hold his head high and hopefully do well elsewhere.

If Partey is sold then I think Guimaraes is a good replacement - he can rotate 6/8 with Rice. However, I agree that de Jong would be my no.1 pick for an 8. Sesko for €45m is a good deal. Is last year's window a pointer to spend? £105m, £65m, £38m.

Rice isn't a number 8...he can play there but when compared to other no. 8s like De Jong, pedri, Kross; Rice isn't nowhere as good passing the ball as they are. He's a world class number 6 and that should he his position. Our biggest weakness in our squad is a left 8. I agree 10000% with Sam, De Jong is the answer or someone close to his profile. Don't forget also that we need another right winger and probably another defender

Hi Charles, good book, nice read. I would like to point out Kai's stats since playing up front. On paper he is a 100Mill striker. He also does so much work it is like having another midfielder.. It is so obvious that the most important player to develop is Havertz, his improvement in one season has been amazing. Rice is a revelation as a left 8 and I would not change that. To give these 3 a better depth of attack we need fast players wide. Martinelli is great, but sometimes wasteful with the ball, White is fast as f@@k and has burned his mark every week. Kiwior is fast enough and I wonder if he will not get over his bad day and kick on next season. If he does that.... Timber in the 6 position? Add Saka to that lot and I am sure that we will be unplayable,

Need cover for Rice and Odegard since they are over utilized. Saka also need some breathing space during the peak.

Love Isak as a player but at the money that you'd need to put up to sign him you've got to look at his injury record and wonder if we'd basically just be swapping Jesus for a player equally prone to be in the treatment room and not on the pitch? With Kai clearly well suited to the 9 role in Arteta's system I think a 'project' player like Sesko might be the move and would free up budget for strengethening elsewhere

If any club wants to compete with Monopoly City you need 2 world class strikers. City have Haaland & Alvarez. Arsenal have a makeshift striker in Havertz & Jesus who is not a 9. Basically Arsenal do not have an out-and-out striker. It's a miracle Arsenal are challenging the club with 115 FFP charges that has 2 world class players for every position. With the exception of injuries to Partey & Timber, Arsenal were relatively lucky this season with injuries. An injury to any key player leaves Arsenal's squad bare like what happened with Saliba. Holding was not a good back up for Saliba. Who else can play as a 9 if Havertz is injured?? We definitely need to sign a striker, LB + CM in the summer & another winger to cover for Saka & Martinelli.

Kai performs well upfront and Gabi as a number 2 to that position is strong. Martinelli and trossard are great on the left but Saka gets run into the ground the entire season. I think if we had support for him, I think it improves the team massively. Saka plays less but better when he does and Arsenal have another goal scorer added to a front line that already works well. interesting thought but do you think arsenal still scouting for younger players is a felfection of them being wary about the core of the team leaving one day? we have such a strong young core to our team (saliba, odegaard, saka, etc.), and if we don't win a trophy next season the reality of one of them leaving becomes a lot more likely. Winning isn't guaranteed, so could these younger project/prospect signings (with loads of clear talent) be our method of filling in those gaps if that dreaded day of one our starting 11 being poached away by one of the richer clubs does come? Not to mention, if we do win a trophy and the younger players are on the bench still, their marketability only grows (profit in player sales). Also what do we think of ollie watkins?

Isak would be so dangerous as a left wing, we could play a front three of Isak, Havertz and Saka - that's menacing for any team.

AFC needs to sign a forward. It’s no fault of Havertz but surely teams will figure out a way to neutralise him in the 9. Having a new forward gives opponents something different to think about. It also needs to be something that gives them a weapon against mid blocks

We got havertz there as well and with Isaak being able to play off a striker/wing and can play as a ST it's a no brainer . And with the rest of the money we have we can go and get zubamendi/onana and a young centre back like Hato. I would rather go for Isaak then Bruno guimares as what we were missing this season was a clinical striker in some games not a midfielder .
