Written by Charley Crockett & Mark Neill
Lyrics:
Same old situation
Coming back again
And I suppose it's been
The fate of many, many men
I tried and tried and
Tried and tried to please that girl
Oh, but I found out
It simply does not end
Fool somebody else
Do it to yourself
Mama, tell me how it feels
When you hold somebody tight
Just to see 'em go in the middle of the night
Would you give up all your love
If you already knew it would never be enough?
Put my heart back on the shelf
Why don't you, fool somebody else?
Here we go again
We've reached the bitter, bitter end
And there's no more life
I lost my bestest, precious friend
You've tried, I've lied, you've cried
About anything at all
And I still found out
I'm never gonna win
Fool somebody else
Do it to yourself
Mama, tell me how it feels
When you hold somebody tight
Just to see 'em go in the middle of the night
Would you give up all your love
If you already knew it would never be enough?
Put my heart back on the shelf
Why don't you, fool somebody else?
Fool somebody else
Do it to yourself
Like you're doing it to me
Hold somebody close
Knowing very well that they're just about to leave
Trust them with your heart
Even though you know they'd betray you, from the start
Fool somebody else
'Cause what you're doing ain't good for my health
Fool somebody else
Do it to yourself
Mama, tell me how it feels
When you hold somebody tight
Just to see 'em go in the middle of the night
Would you give up all your love
If you already knew it would never be enough?
Put my heart back on the shelf
Why don't you fool somebody else?

You know.. 7 years. I bought her a house, a car.. everything.. Once we almost literally drowned together.. Im a strong swimmer..she wasn't, but I wasn't letting go. Had an early Thanksgiving, but She didn't come home that night.. Put me on the street with a 6 month old boy and moved in her boyfriend. It's fine. I'm stronger than ever..I earned what I have and will never share it again. This song and video heals me.. so thanks Charley, it means a lot.

This track is so SICK. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 The 60s Motion girl group mash-up with 60 Western, the Spanish guitar dancing with the steel with a dark shadows feel in the background. The beat also sounds like galloping horses and New Orleans funeral dancers bopping in the streets. Don't let the door hitcha subject. The visuals. Charley put that Louisiana/crooning thang on them vocals. The swag. The sickness. All of his stuff. I'm so excited for what he's going to do next and how he's going to melt all the roots together. Charley is every damn thing.

@deadbutdreaming i think this song is actually about his ex Lyza Renee. The lady in this video is his new current girlfriend. He dated Lyza for 5 or 6 years since before he was remotely famous after meeting on a farm in Norcal and she was in his jamestown ferry video. Seems to have broken up around when this song was written. Lyza has some interesting comments on her instagram about it, insinuating he cheated. seems like a bitter ending. I think his new girlfriend is supposed to be playing Lyza from the past in this vid.
