Whenever a Charlie Brown holiday special is on (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas), my grandma always gives me a call saying “Charlie Brown’s on channel 13 tonight at 8, just letting you know!” She’s been giving me that phone call for the past 20 years ever since I was able to answer a phone, and getting that call from her was and still is one of my favorite parts of the holiday season. For me, it isn’t a holiday if my grandma didn’t call reminding me that Charlie Brown was on. I’ll always cherish that. When my grandma passes away, I think the saddest part will be when Halloween comes along and for the first time ever, I won’t get a call from her. God bless.

My Mother was born in 1940. My Mother became a teenager in 1953, and she remembered the Sock Hops, Elvis Presley, Poodle Skirts of the 1950's, and the Revolutions of the 1960's. She was already 25 years in 1965. When we'd decorate for Christmas, she'd blair this on the radio whenever it came on, and when we made cookies. She absolutely enjoyed this. Hard to believe she'd be 82 years going on 83 years now.

I always liked this particular scene in the Peanuts animated Christmas special. It's so whimsical and cute. It's a classic I'll never forget. This cartoon special debuted on television while I was an elementary school student. They don't make cartoons this cute and wholesome any longer. Thank you for sharing this longtime fond memory.❤️🥰❤️

It's December, 2020... and Dear Lord, did I need to watch this now more than ever! By the way, big props at 1:58 watching 3 particular kids getting down. The kid at top screen doing a proto-moonwalk. The girl in the green dress at center stage reminding us Xenials how kids from the 60's got down. And my man in the orange shirt head bobbing to a groove all his own... God bless us, everyone! 🌲😎🇵🇷🇺🇸📽🤣🦂

Each kid with their own move. Linus looks like he's stomping out a fire. Violet (green dress) looks like she's beating herself in the head. Sally's got a cool little two-step. The purple dress twins look like puppets. But look at Orange Shirt do his thing!

And the twins were his sisters, 3 and 4. In the comic strip, he went around with a number 5 on the front of his shirt. I wonder why they didn't have it here. He was kinda like some of the other characters like Franklin and Roy, who you saw a couple times then they went away entirely. But at least Franklin made it into the "Peanuts Movie."

I once heard before this show was released on TV in 1965 they had some concerns and at a staff party, one of those celebrating (after maybe a glass or two of Holiday Cheer!!!) boldly proclaimed that it would be popular for the next 100 years!!! Well… here we are almost 58 years later!!!

📺 I truly do miss watching the peanuts and other christmas cartoons on television at 8 p.m. I know they still play a few but not the way they use to throughout the 1980s or the 1990s. We all had it made back when we were young kids or teenagers. I'm thankful for the stuff we all had back then Plus I'm very grateful for being a 80s kid and growing up in that time frame. Like all seriously here, they need to give us back our holidays and the way it use to be.
