Synopsis :- Charlie Chan is engaged by an heir to solve a mystery on a boat. Miss Nodbury seeks a pirate treasure on Cocos Island, and her ship has recently hosted a museum of pirate lore. For safety, she has split her map into four pieces, which she gave to some of the passengers whom she has invited, but tells no one who they are. When she is given a fright and succumbs to her heart disease, Chan must clear up the mystery while the ship is still at the dock.Dead Men Tell is a 1941 American mystery film starring Sidney Toler, who played Charlie Chan in 22 feature films, beginning with Charlie Chan in Honolulu (1938), and ending with The Trap (1946). The first 11 Charlie Chan films were produced by 20th Century Fox Studios, thereafter sold to Monogram Pictures.

I am 64 now, as a kid I watched these movies on Dutch TV. I loved it and still do. No more Charly Chan on Dutch TV. Not woke enough I guess. Well thank god there is KZfaq. Greetings from a retired Dutch Navy man, and let's enjoy the good old times.

I can't understand what anyone could have against Charlie Chan. With his command of ancient Chinese wisdom and a keen analytical mind, I would think he would be a good role model for all the citizens of the world.

@@thomassnider6691probably because he was always played by white men made up to look Chinese. I think they equate it to wearing black face. Black face was caricature though. (In my opinion) I think people try to hard these days to impose today's morals on yesterday and it's ridiculous. Besides which, these are actors playing a role. This isn't real life.

Im 75 now and still remember watching Charlie chan movies on our black and white tv. Saturday afternoons. I was hooked.

Fun to watch; hadn’t seen one in years. For a low-budget, double-feature installment, the cinematography was quite good. Sidney Toler and Sen Yung (later Victor Sen Yung) made a good team. For us fans, it was good to see George Reeves in a sinister role, ten years before “Superman.” Fun fact: Sen Yung and Stanley Andrews (Inspector Vesey) both appeared in the first year of “Superman.”
