----- Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin KBE (16 April 1889 - 25 December 1977) was an English comic actor, filmmaker, and composer who rose to fame in the era of silent film. He became a worldwide icon through his screen persona, "The Tramp", and is considered one of the most important figures in the history of the film industry. His career spanned more than 75 years, from childhood in the Victorian era until a year before his death in 1977, and encompassed both adulation and controversy.

I always felt I was born at the wrong time. I am so fascinated with early Hollywood and particularly beautiful sparse Los Angeles back in the 20’s. Must have been a beautiful time to be alive.

I used to think so, then I saw 'Midnight in Paris', where the main character time travels to Paris is 1920s to meet his favorite authors and artists. After enjoying meeting his heroes he realizes day to day life sucks. There is no home air conditioning, penicillin or antibiotics doesn't exist, you always had to wear suit and hat, even in summer so people are sweaty and smelly, no microwave, no frozen food etc. So he got the hell outa there. lol

@@ravikeecheril2212 Those are pretty shallow reasons. Daily life did not suck for them. And what, modern life here is so awesome? People now have cancer, drug addictions, they shoot each other...Each time had its good and bad. But what this person is saying is that it WAS a grand and glorious time of invention, of optimism, of wide-open possibility. I'd love to go see it, too.

Je trouve que cet homme a fait beaucoup de sacrifice pour son public ,par exemple les scènes acrobatiques sans trucages, Il s est usé dans son travail,,car il aurait pu vivre plus longtemps et mieux profiter Il est parti à 88ans C'est pas vieux Dommage Je l aime toujours autant Joyeux Noël 2020
