Well, that's what Marvel Studios was working on at the time, and it was a big event in the comics shortly before the MCU began, a massive crossover affecting pretty much every ongoing title, because it was a story about every enhanced or gifted person in the United States being forced to register with the government (to potentially get drafted, and also forcing them to reveal their secret identities) or get rounded up and imprisoned. Only people on the inside knew how different the movie was going to be from the comic (other than, obviously, being condensed to fit the running time), so it makes sense that the thought would cross the minds of actors in the extended MCU whose characters were present in the comic event, and that it would be something they'd be questioned about. If it had been an adaptation of the comic, the storyline would have affected much more than the members of the Avengers, and Marvel didn't even have the movie rights to X-Men and the Fantastic Four at the time, but Marvel Television had a bunch of characters who could have been useful for an adaptation of that story. With that in mind, it makes sense that "who's gonna be in Civil War?" was a big conversation. "Infinity War"/"Endgame" brought up a lot of the same questions, for similar reasons. The original "The Infinity Gauntlet" comic story was also packed with characters who didn't show up in the movie.

I'm so so glad they ended up keeping Charlie Cox as Daredevil and bringing him into the MCU. He's a brilliant actor and I don't think anyone can play Matt Murdock as well as he did. Thank god Marvel Studios has enough sense to see that he's the one and only Matt Murdock..

I mean, he already was. All the Netflix TV shows are in the MCU, they even mention it the shows. Heck, they were planing on puttung them in Endgame, but due to getting the actors and just having to many characters they were scrap.

it is bc there should be some kinda reason for them to include him but there was none for all of them, most of them were looking for someone like peter. And as a lawyer his role makes sense. spiderman needs a lawyer so there is the very good lawyer and in civil war, he would have gone crazy dealing with Iron man and captain fighting with each other to the point to give up being a lawyer and daredevil at the same time hahaha just joking hahahaah

I don't want to see daredevil in the larger mcu universe, to be honest. The little cameo in nwh was just fine as it is. The gritty world of daredevil is very much grounded in reality, albeit a very depressing and dark one. The magic ninja story almost ruined the second season in that regard, it was almost too much of a stretch. They mention the events of the avengers in two or three throwaway lines in the first season, barely noticable - and that's it. If there were any more references in it would ruin the tone completely. Daredevil shouldn't be part of a universe where magic, timetravel, aliens or interdimensional portals exist.

@@Unlimi-PT I know that. I'm aware of the comics and the source material. Comics and live action television work very differently as media though. I can't imagine how Charlie cox' version of the character could fit in the mcu without lessening the heavy themes or the gritty tone developed in the series. The mcu adopted a very fantastical, colorful tone and a general sci-fi direction over the last few years (and I'm exclusively talking about life action, TV, cinema, comics are a totally different beast). How could you ever fit daredevil into that?
