Man! Charlie Haden was the most beautiful voice on the bass in my humble opinion. So pure, so soulful, so deep! Each note has a meaning. Love this duo!

Kenny Barron is one of my favorites and unsung hero in the world of Jazz pianists - a amazing combination of tasty voicing, beautiful phrasing, and absolutely perfect rhythmic execution. His version of Autumn Leaves below is a master class in the art of the Jazz trio. His duets with Dave Holland (one of my favorite bassists along with Charlie Haden) are unbelievable. Thank you David for posting this! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ip56qd2I3quwYZc.html

This is the sound I acquaint with Kenny Barron. This and the tune, ST. THOMAS. No doubt, KENNY BARRON IS A MASTER MUSICIAN.

Charlie is thee most deeply expressive bassman I have ever heard with a big fat tone that comes from way down deep !!

after Chambers?? :) Chambers is the most solid bassist out there in terms of consistent flowing basslines. My opinion of course. Cheers!

That was some incredible playing over the walking bass of Kenny's left hand, starting at 4:44 into this video.

He's very expressive and viruoso but it seems strange to me playing at first positions with left hahd's finger no. 3 as my teachers always told me to be wrong. Maybe those were just my school days, not real life.

@@susannebrendt5821 Absolutely, I agree with you. It was an old comment, dont midn it too much. Maybe I was in a bad mood that day.

@@susannebrendt5821 Upright bass teachers tend to be orthodox, specially in the "classical" thing and they tried to scare me that way. Maybe there's not too much better way to make it in school days but in real life you can do whatever works for best.

Jazz players hardly ever play nice European high-end pianos any more (thinking of Erroll Garner at the Bechstein in Belguim) All must play the Yamaha now. All action rails must be made of aluminum and all jacks made of plastic.

Art Tatum played pianos with missing keys out of regulation Even Bill Evans played many inferior pianos on gigs ah all jazz pianists have me too. This Yamaha is total luxury .
