Passing Civics class must become mandatory to graduate from High School! Already this 13 year old is a better informed citizen then most!

I don’t mean to sound ignorant with this question. It’s an honest one. Is Civics really not a graduation requirement for high school around the US? I ask because I’m 53 and it was definitely required by both the school district AND my parents. It does answer several questions I have about the lack of government operations knowledge being shown by the crop of graduates over the last 20 years. If that’s the case, heaven help us.

@@CrowdJusticeUSTechnically none of this means anything but human X passed Y grade in Z school system. Critical thinking ability and using it in your daily life thus also modeling classes after it would be most beneficial later in life for a developing brain. Human X doing 10 years in college vs Human Y doing 0 years in college does not give us a scientifically certain end result of what either humans success level monetarily WILL BE in life for 100% sure. Can a person will little or no college make more monetarily in their life then the other human? YES, also vice versa. Full Disclosure: I finished in top 5% in my state in Science. The only thing that one can know for sure given that information is Human X tested in top 5% in their state in Science. That's it. There is no guarantee that my person will do better or worse than another person that would score lower or higher in this field.

@@CrowdJusticeUS None of my words stated anything about my personal choices. Failing to apply myself is a viewpoint which there is no point in retorting on as if one thinks i failed by becoming what i did then so be it. Since the topic has been switched to that, I do apply them where i can in my choice of what i wanted to do. Other factors played into the choice in what i do being more than solely aptitude based. There is elements that can apply those skillsets, granted not as many areas test that aptitude as there could be. Rewarding beyond any monetary value can give in return for another field i may have went into. Yes i still have thoughts of doing other fields. In the end it would be much more selfish in nature by comparison to where i ended up which played a big role in my decisions, which varies with each person.

She's a teenager, not a child. That's one of the problems in our country. We act like young people are children through the age of 19. Some people want to say they're not fully adults until 25 or 26, and yet those same people want to lower the voting age and allow these 'children' to have abortions with even the parents knowing about it, to have transgender surgery regardless of the parent's consent. It's abusrd.

There is a high chance that the phone belongs to one of her parents. She’s not there without them. Most, if not all, of the homeschooled 13 year old kids I currently know and have known over the years did not yet have a phone. I’m thinking she simply had her question typed into Notes on her mom’s phone. I currently have a 13 year old son and he doesn’t have a phone. My older daughters didn’t have a phone at 13 either. All homeschooled. I could be wrong but just chiming in from experience. But yes, no 13 year old should own their own phone. Nope. No way. I agree.

It matters what you define as "being a Kid" and "politics". Ought she to know how the legislative process works? Yes, and that is politics. Ought she to know what the constitution says? Yes, and that is politics. Politics is more than watching Fox News, NBC, ABC, and the New York Times, politics is more than Trump v. so-and-so, politics is how society works, and a 13 year old ought to know how society works, especially since they are just starting to get more involved and will probably be working a job somewhere within the next year or two. Being a kid entails what? Is it just constantly playing? Maybe, from ages 1-3, but once you get to about 4-6, you ought to know how to read, maybe even write. Being a kid is more than just constantly playing, be it sports, roleplaying, tag, etc. Being a kid entails learning. Politics is how society operates, therefore "being a kid" entails learning about how society operates. Hence, especially if you are 13, you ought to know politics.

I wasnt sure about kids going into politics, but even keeping my 13 year old daughter away from it, it’s still krept in through friends and social media anyway. But ive found it to be a good way to address critical thinking with her. Why doesn’t she like a politician. her reasons have been so far quite understandable for a 13 year old. e.g having to stay in school longer and getting a shorter holiday in summer. i was really impressed to get that kind of answer rather than, my friends think he’s a jerk. That Kid in the video could go. a long way though. With an admiration for learning and willingness to try. She could be building the next generation of technology or overseeing future policies. I really love seeing kids excel like this.

The best advice you can give is treat everyone with respect. If you come from a great family you guys have a big house and you never want for anything everything is at your fingertips. Be nice to others because they 9 times out of 10 dont have that. Dont rub it in peoples faces that you have it good. Be thankful for what you have. Dont use terms you in hear in music because thats not for everyone to use.

A simplistic lesson that really doesn't say much of anything. "Moral courage" could mean anything since morality is individual and not universal. @@robertwoods3750 Now you are downgrading the girl because you're saying she's using the phone as a crutch. She's 13 years old asking a question of a famous person she admires in front of hundreds of strangers. That's not a crutch. That's smart. I only wish more people would write their questions down rather than hemming and hawing their way through a question. If it helps them get through their question, it's more of an aid than a crutch. A crutch implies there's something wrong with them. And remember, people use to write notes to themselves. Public speakers would at least outline their speeches. Is that a crutch? It's not a phone.
