I learned to pick out tunes on our piano after listening to Charlie on the wireless. Now 87 and I haven’t improved any. Good luck to all of you.

Wow, thank you so much for your thoughtful reply, Mr Smith! Those were largely peaceful, but busy days... a summer's day in old London town was lovely then...

Being the early-mid 50s, R&R had not exploded on the scene yet, but even then this was more 'middle of the road' music.

London was truly a beautiful town, wasn’t it?! Special place and time. I think the ‘leaders’ of the English people should be ashamed… Oh well, thank you for the memories! So long!

Charlie Kunz had a magical style of his own which was unique. He was a great artiste but he was lucky that in his day there were lots of great Songwriters with great songs for him to play. Wonderful melodies which we have allowed to drift into oblivion and replaced with primitive sounds masqueraded as music. Were it not for the wonder of KZfaq and Uploaders we would have no music at all as the radio airwaves have been void of music for decades. Shameful.

I expect this was both sides of a Decca 78 in its original form - unmistakable Mr.K. Great film Steve, London was like a large town back then by comparison.

I think so - he tended to do his medleys with three songs on each side of the 78 disc.- so these ones were probably from 1.5 discs. Can't get much info on the precise details (yet). My recordings are from a compilation LP issued in early 1956. Most, if not all of these tunes are from 1952, so if he did release them on singles, that would have been the year he did them. His increasingly deteriorating health after the war caused a slow down in activity, and he stopped broadcasting in the late 40s, but continued with records. Thanks for looking in Jo.

...there was a time when Charlie's records were everywhere. Wherever there were 78s to be had you could be sure to see some of his amongst them - I wish now I'd collected them...
