@@eminem13001 Not exactly. But yah, what we can ask is to get the courage to get what is best for us that what god thinks is right, that's what we can ask him. Think of your highest deepest need which you want to have. work for it, try to feed slowly which you think will more fulfil you, and feed through your sensory organs into the hard-disk of you body! Slowly see and measure what you want, repeat this over and over to keep yourself healthy and stable!

This is a very wise man. I’m fact, most people who have lived in this world are. Older people are ABSOLUTELY needed in this world. Without them, the younger generation would fall. Be grateful for the older generation and constantly seek knowledge!

People who stand on Capitalism's highest peak like Munger, Buffet, Gates, Musk, or Bezos got to where they are because they have the best genetics for IQ. Munger's intelligence has almost everything to do with why he speaks so well. The near entirety of elderly people are not comparable.

His speech "Human misjudgment" and the corresponding book, " Influence", by Bob sealdini changed how I think forever. When I started to apply these principles life's decisions got a lot easier and I passed by everbody. I mean people that are better than me by anyones measure. @@brettj3850 on KZfaq you can listen to his human misjudgment speech. He gives a few examples of a persons natural proclivity to bias and influence. If anybody works at eliminating human misjudgment that’s most of the battle. I became wealthy by avoiding the mistakes of human misjudgment not by any great skill or talent.

I have 3 of CT MUNGER’s quotations that I love the most... 1, when he said “whoever thinks investing is easy is Stupid”... 2, “if the 3 of us here-referring to himself,BUFFETT and GATES- were to lose 90% of our wealth,we’d still be Billionaire$$$” that just shows the depth of their wealth,when I reverse that and bring it to myself,if I were to lose 90% of my LIL money I’d go straight to abject poverty🙈😭... 3, “SOCIAL MEDIA is nothing but Intellectual Sewer,I prefer reading books than being on my stupid handset”...GOD BLESS CHARLIE✌🏿🇿🇦

You say, "if the 3 of us here-referring to himself,BUFFETT and GATES- were to lose 90% of our wealth,we’d still be Billionaire." I think that's a misquotation. And it's not even true in Charlie's case. He would not be a billionaire if he lost 90%. Buffett could lose "99%" and be financially "comfortable," which is what Munger said if they all lost 99%. Buffett would have $824 million left. If Charlie lost 99%, he'd get by on $18 million.

i believe he was trying to show how problems can be solved in many different ways and one is better able to find more solutions to solve a problem by equipping themselves with as much interdisciplinary knowledge as possible. he provided the bribery example to show how raising prices to increase sales could be achieved in many different ways..i don’t think he was encouraging bribery in any way do you happen to work in the yale english department?

@@brettj3850 I might be wrong, but I think his point is that whether you engage in illegitimate practises or not, you cannot be successful without understanding the constraints of the system. The system, in this case, is capitalism, a framework built on logical rules but utilized by humans with their independent motives, needs, emotions. You cannot expect to get the highest result if you cannot understand the extent to which the elements of this system can bend.

To Charlie’s point about when to raise prices: When Chipotle was first starting out, their management noticed that few people were choosing carnitas (shredded pork) for their protein option, instead opting for the similarly-priced chicken or the higher-priced steak or barbacoa. How did they remedy that? They simply raised the price of the carnitas to that of the steak and Barbados. Boom, problem solved. Carnitas sales took off. Of course it helped that the carnitas were a tasty choice.”, but people probably just assumed for whatever reason that the pork option wouldn’t be good. It took a higher price to change their minds.

I'm not sure 15:00 if liquor falls under the realm of 'Luxury Goods,' but when I was eighteen years of age way back in 1976 and purchasing my first few bottles of wine to have for a planned, upcoming special dinner, I remember discussing several different varieties and their prices with the store owner, who at one point looked at me and went on to say something that I have never forgotten: "If I'm not selling enough of a particular variety, all I often have to do is place it higher on the display shelf, and raise the price." Over the past few years, as whiskey has once again become more and more popular, I think this is certainly now the case for Barrell-Proof Bourbon. - j q t -

What is funny but also scary is that Charlie's prediction has become the exact opposite. The social sciences have become even more useless than they were in 2008 and not only have they NOT become interdisciplinary but they have forced their false precepts and ideas onto all of the other disciplinaries. Which in turn has been reducing their efficacy.

My sum up for anybody that needs it... Feel free to tell me if I should add anything related even if it isn't mentioned in the video. ## Common sense isn't common Common sense is being good at a broad range of things. **Tackle life by inversion, twist stuff backwards. Identify folly and avoid it.** > "the secret to a great life is to not do stupid things. If you don't know when you are doing something stupid then you will not have a great life." ## Collector of inanity Take big ideas from different territories and reuse them in different fields. Structures in your head (**mental models**). Interest in how ideas interplay together (not a lot of competition). > "Take the high road in life cause is less crowded." -Warren Buffet Issues when ideas are in conflict. Figure it out or use approximations until it gets better. ## Occam's razor > "Everything should be made as simple as possible..." > "... but not more simple." -Einstein When you see a lollapalooza result in social sciences look for a confluence of multiple causes operating in the same direction. Social scientist tend to twist everything into the concept they started with. > "To the man with an hammer every problem looks like a nail." If you grab the main ideas of different disciplines you have multiple tools.

I remember starting back in 2005, adding more shares of Apple to my portfolio every time I saw on the news people waiting in long lines, and even camping out overnight, simply in order to buy the next iPod, or iPad, or iPhone. Amazon seemed like a good way to buy books online in the late 1990s, and so in 2001 it was possible to acquire shares at about $15 (the price plummeted to below $5 a share a few months later, after Sep 11, 2001; but I held on, in spite of it having temporarily lost two-thirds of its value). And in 2004 I believe, over the next decade and a half, every time I heard "Google" being used as a verb, I acquired a few more shares. As of 2018, Amazon crossed above $1500 a share, and so over the course of seventeen years, it became a "Hundred Bagger" (as of now in 2020, it has doubled once again since then!); Apple has come close to being a "Five Hundred Bagger" for a few investors, at least for those shares purchased earlier; and I think we're still waiting for the verdict on Google, as to whether it is trying to become a "Two Hundred" or "Three Hundred Bagger" in the very near future. Of course I won't list all of the losers, of which I've had several: but a few include Enron and Nortel, so I've had several investments go completely bust. But while you can 'only' lose 100% worst case, in order to offset these losers and be successful, all it takes is a few "winners" that can often exceed 10,000% on the upside, if you're patient. This takes quite a bit of discipline, because even with such extraordinary investing opportunities over the past five decades, the "Tech Wreck" of 2001-2002 chopped my portfolio in half, and then once again in 2007-2008, the "Housing and Mortgage Bubble" wreaked even more havoc! All it takes is some small sacrifice and regular saving: for example, if you gave up cable tv or a cell phone in 1990 and invested that amount each month for a few decades, it would have easily grown to six figures! What many people spend on fast food and coffee, if invested over three decades, could often generate a portfolio of half a million dollars! And it sucks not having something that it seems like everyone *needs* to have, but in my own case, I look back and think, "Was having cable tv really worth being able to invest and retire earlier?" Sacrifice and Discipline over Time all combined seems to be the formula. And listen to these people like Charlie Munger and Warren Buffett! - j q t -

I’m a dividend investor My wife and I have invested in the s&p500, both through my TSP with the government, and through Fidelity in her 401-k.Cashed out 270k from the S&P and invested with a Full service broker . Until around 4 years ago we were 100% in the s&p after over 30 years.I'm retiring at the end of this month at 62, while my wife will retire next year at 60. We currently have 1.7 million in out tax deferred savings..so I don't actually agree with this..

And how exactly did they build enough wealth and social respect that they might own a rating agency people cared about? Munger has always struck me as a man of integrity. Rare among billionaires? Sure. But he seems to be just that. Buffet is a decent man and remarkable investor; munger is a remarkable man and good investor. Together they were an incredible team. I see no reason to tear the man down at the end of a well lived life.

To paraphrase, what I just heard in this presentation is: Increase your price to alter the market perception of your product/service, then use the proceeds of that exercise to engage in bribery. In the comments threads, I now see vast numbers of people lavishing praise on Mr Munger...
