The only reason it's even on air is because everything related to Buffett attracts significant attention. No genuine BRK shareholder would ever be concerned about it.

Given that Buffett has conducted his business and personal life with such a high degree of integrity spanning decades, I think everyone should just relax, take a breath and let this microscopic detail play out. Even "IF" he has done 2 or 3 trades that were inappropriate, he'll still remain miles above most in terms of being honest.

Here is what I think happened. It's a matter of opportunity cost. A stock at the same time can be a bad investment for his personal portfolio (given that the portfolio is small and he has found a better opportunity) and a great investment for Berkshire given that his investment universe is much smaller at the level of Berkshire. For example mega cap stock A is trading at 40 and may be worth 100. Buffett owns stock A in his personal portfolio. Stock goes up to 50 Buffett has more conviction that he is right about the stock but has found a small cap he can make 5 times his money but thinks a 100% gain given his higher conviction on stock A may be a good opportunity for Berkshire. So he sells the stock in his PA account and then buys it for Berkshire.

Again, as a avid Buffett supporter, why are they trying to justify his actions? Had this been someone else, they’d be scolding these actions. Also, the meeting is in May, I’m sure he’ll be addressing it because everyone will be asking him about it, and he’ll have a clever way of explaining why he did whatever it is he did. Also, being that they hold a lot of cash, and were responsible for helping bailout some companies during the worst of times (2007-2009 etc.) I’m sure the sec and many others have a major incentive in regards to helping him keep positions classified, even though full disclosure is supposed to be an SEC standard. Can’t wait to hear it from the Oracles Mouth! 😂😂😂😂😂

They are very wrong regarding David Sokol. What happened was that Sokol did tell Buffett regarding his purchase at Lubrizol and then told Buffett to look into it. What Sokol didn’t do was tell Buffett that it was investment bankers from Citigroup who had told him to look into Lubrizol. Once Berkshire bought lubrizol, down the line at some point, one investment banker from Citigroup congratulated Warren Buffett on his purchase and told Warren that it was them who had told David Sokol about Lubrizol. Everything went downhill from there, unfortunately for Sokol, who was Warren Buffett’s right hand man and potential heir to Berkshire Hathaway.

I got into investing because of Warren and I love him as much as the next Shareholder. However, he’s too smart to be mistakenly doing things. Classifying investments as confidential via the SEC, (allegedly) in order to keep the cost basis low because everyone follows his every move and may bid the price up higher of his mysterious acquisition, is not something everyone can do. Ergo it’s more than fishy. Maybe it’s for tax loss harvesting purposes. Maybe he realized he owned something personally that he wanted Berkshire to own at a better price. It could also be because it’s a very small position relative to Berkshire’s net worth. Regardless, requesting it, and getting it done….Come on bro! 😅😅😅😅

He said that he doesn't buy shares that Berkshire bought. But did he ever say that Berkshire doesn't buy shares that he bought? If he thought a stock was undervalued, might it not be beneficial to Berkshire to buy the same stock? If Berkshire then bought the stock that he already owned, and he wished to sell his personal holdings because he needed cash, could he not sell his personal holdings? Additionaly, could not one of the other big analysts at Berkshire have reccomended a stock he personally owned (without them knowing he owned it)? Should Buffett then deny the suggestion by the analyst merely because he owned it himself (At the expense of all the other shareholders of Berkshire)? I think not. Nevertheless, we do not know for certain what happened untill the matter is explained. Everything else is speculation.
