One of the secrets to their wealth is that they find people, managers, that are much more frugal than they are; that furniture lady that worked till she was in her 90s, folks that are much smarter than they are, that insurance guy, and spouses that are coupon cutters, despite the fact that they can buy a whole farm with one second earning. So the lesson is, peer pressure is everything.

Back during the GME short-squeeze, Robinhood had to get emergency funding from their private investors for over $3 billion (a large amount for them) to cover their order flows. The next big market movement within their platform will bankrupt them for sure. This stock has the potential go to zero.

Robinhood has been a net good though. Sure a minority of users have made the stock market their new casino, but the cost of access to investments for the average person has finally been brought down to the point where normal people can control their money. Before robinhood I didn’t have enough cash for a brokerage account so I could only invest through a 401k, but I couldn’t choose my investments in the 401k, I was put on a track based on my age. I would rather invest in companies I know really really well than in indexes that are affected at a broader scale.

Yep spot on, 401k sucks cause you gotta hand money to rich to gamble and screw each other over were ever they want. Without robinhood we never would been able to individual invest, besides 2020 was a fluke with all the stimulus, most the yolo and gamblers have been washed from market by now... I'm struggling atm with the volatility but that's to be expect with what happened last year and big money manipulating market to get everything down cheap again.

@@Etaoinshrdlu69 "Do your own research" so a non-answer, thankfully I already did, Bitcoin network uses less power and paper than legacy financial system by a huge amount and helps make systems more efficient by instead wasting energy(leftovers from nuclear powerplants/burning off excess natural gas/oil) and instead repurposing it by directing it to mining stations located on-site.

I have respect for both both Charlie and Munger for their investment results. Although on principle they got rich on some the unhealthiest products. there's nothing wrong with gambling per se but it definitely shouldn't be wrapped up with the real market, as these guys mention. if the authorities are going to allow that kind of action it should be isolated from the real market and probably derivative based. lots of people bet on sports but the betting doesn't influence the outcome of the real game. securities markets should live by the same principle.

These old farts have made a fortune by conducting property and car insurance businesses...the best business and legal scam in the world whereby they collect premiums upfront and decide later whether to pay claims based on legal costs. Having say so, to run a successful insurance businesses regardless of the industry, one would need to things to succeed: spend money on politicians so they will pass laws making insurance mandatory and increase premiums by 10% every six months to those with no claims and 50% to those with claims. I used to pay these old farts 10% increases of my vehicles policies every six months while having no accidents or records whatsoever but not anymore.

The Duke Brothers but in real life. Robinhood isn’t perfect by any means and we all know if they didn’t do anything shady during the GME fiasco, they at the very least, dropped the ball at the goal line. This old miser isn’t scolding Robinhood as a company for what happened during the greatest short squeeze since the VW incident. Munger is scolding Robinhood for simply EXISTING. His wrinkly butt doesn’t want working class people trading stocks!!! Are you kidding? WSB changed the game and Robinhood did also. The memes, the gains, the losses, the YOLO’s into meme stocks that don’t seem to be (in his view) based on any fundamentals or have proper risk assessment. He’s probably right but there are people who have made real money. Personally, I like Robinhood. I don’t like what happened with GME and those responsible need to be held to account for it. REPEAT - those responsible for what happened with GME should be prosecuted and locked up forever if they broke any laws. I’m not a lawyer so I don’t know. I do think that if Robinhood can get it together under improved management then it’s a pretty cool thing to have. Just my 2 cents lol.

Munger is WRONG here. If he criticizes Robinhood, he might as well criticize every stock broker. They have done nothing wrong. Nowhere does Robinhood encourage gambling, that's ridiculous. And in fact they are an undervalued company - a fantastic value play at this price. I see 0 recognition from Munger that Robinhood has removed all commissions for normal traders and that they have made investing more easy and accessible for millions. Instead he focuses on how people have abused the service, like they have at all other brokers.

Just cause Robinhood made it easy to trade doesn't mean the ppl on it will be successful traders. Seriously this isn't new. These times are very similar to the 1999 tech bubble. The issue is a lot of new traders were putting money into garbage companies because apps like Robinhood made it "easy" to trade. And now those same ppl are getting killed in the market. Any one who's been in the market for decades like Warren and Charlie saw this coming.

What did these Robinhood traders think was going to happen once the Fed stopped with the quantitative easing? Lol seriously any true investor should have saw this coming. These Robinhood traders played the sucker role to be honest. Like I said this isn't new y'all just didn't know because you don't study the market's past. Learn your history about this markets because they kind of repeat in cycles. Besides these are great opportunities to get the companies you like a cheap prices any way. You get excited about times like these.

These guys are ancient. Time to throw in the towel and retire gentlemen. Leave the investing world to us young folks. We are innovating and disrupting the space. Things that worked back when people were riding horses in the streets on NY don't work in today's investment landscape.

Young and clueless. "Innovating and disrupting" is just another word for trying to find a shortcut at the expense of others, Robinhood or others aren't new, they are just a new name and new to you. Why are you even here if you don't understand value investing?

@@ignacionava8699 Not interested. I've made terrific returns from my investments into Amazon, Google, Tesla, AMD , Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana. The investment world looks very different now my friend. You can stick to your Coca-Cola , McDonalds and Proctor and Gamble. No skin off my back.

@@providencez9496 Blessed to say I've had a great 2 years investing into Tesla, Google , Amazon and crypto currencies. I don't need to be on their level, I do what makes sense for me and my family and we are doing just great with our investments !

@@NK-iw6rq It's not actually any different than pre-tech bubble. Or any other bubble for that matter. Berkshire also has shares of Apple and Amazon. And to lump those with cryptocurrencies is bonkers just because they are all "new". I'm happy to hear you're doing well for your family, and I don't wish bad on a stranger but eventually bubbles will burst and lots of "normal people" will lose a lot. Anyway the video was referencing Robinhood, a tech stock that sure tried to disrupt but cost investors and cost most users (granted not all). Anyway I'm just wondering why you are here on this video if you have no interest in their strategy? Cheers.
