We are struggling at the moment with sand, the diesel mixers don’t help, we find the very first mix is good then downhill from there so we wash out a few times a day so the barrel is clean again.We always find the small belle electric mixer is best, but they ain’t no good on big sites. Great videos gang, keep up the good work.

On the issue of the mortar cement, adding some lime is a great idea. We let the sand and water mix as long as possible before we add the dry cement. Just after letting out a mix, fill the water and sand lett it mix while you use the previous mix up. Sand grains are like mini a sponge. Longer you let water soak in the better. Good job all... The very best from Ireland.

If something’s a struggle it always helps to stick the tongue out 🤣 On the muck, we had a similar problem, stones in the sand and not great quality muck. We moaned like fuk for a week before someone listened, they sent someone out from the quarry coz they didn’t believe us. Turned out one of the sieves was broke at the quarry and stones were getting in, also there was a problem with the washer, basically the sand was shit they admitted to us, got a refund and new sand, no more problem.

When the batch of muck has all the ingredients mixed together try shutting the mixer off and let it sit for 5 mins. It should set up (stiffen a bit) then start the mixer add water to get your texture and see how it performs.
@larrycarroll68693 жыл бұрын
That system works great with the spec mix
@63flight3 жыл бұрын
@@larrycarroll6869 I'm here in the U.S.A. and we use a real mortar mixer which think helps too. Those mixers I see being used on the other side of the pond are concrete mixers in the US.

@JimJimpmjj3 жыл бұрын
This sand from what you explained sounds like recycled sand, it's like Sharp sand but not like what you would buy out the merchants and definitely not like building/soft sand. When I built my outbuilding ( rendered finish) I got 3 ton of this sand for 75quid delivered (150quid at merchants for 3 ton building/sharp sand) I used it for bricklaying and then mixed with chippings for concrete. Makes lovely concrete but like you very annoying when laying, I found myself having to knock it up often. Since then I have been using proper building sand from the merchants and it's a dream to work with! Even proper sharp sand would be better than this stuff. Anyhow I basically feel your pain, as I have used the same stuff. Ps: it's dirt cheap that's probably why the site has it over buying quality building sand from the merchants. Back to watching now 👍👍💪👊
