Hey, Chris. I really enjoy the videos you do with Charlie. What I like about him is that he’s simultaneously modest and proud. Don’t see much of that these days. The same is true of you too, pal.

Alot of places require GPS to even get on the job now. Some guys can do as good by eye but these places and the liability require a paper trail and preprinted finger to point.
@jamesrivis6205 жыл бұрын
Isn’t the GPS to track the machine if it is stolen or for getting the right grade ? There is this outfit in Southampton, UK which contracts to locate your machinery if it gets stolen by attaching GPS and radio warnings so if the machine moves they can track it and recover it. They have videos on KZfaq. It’s very fascinating.It is called AutomatricsMTrack.

No it tells the operator if he’s meeting grade or not... it may double as a LoJack but that’s an extra if it works

Can someone explain 'yield' to me please? 2%...4%...-1%...-2%....I'm lost on the math of what Charlie is trying to explain.
@RockCreekEnterprisesNM5 жыл бұрын
If a job calls for 10,000 yards, the contractor has to figure for extra (yield) 4% would be 400 extra yards. If Charlie gets the grade perfect then the contractor does not need the extra concrete and he and Charlie split the savings of not buying and placing the extra concrete. Let's say $100 per yard, the savings on 400 yards would be 40,000, split between Charlie and the contractor that would be $20,000 each.

This day and time I don’t see how any company that builds subdivisions, warehouses or really any kind of site work can afford not to have Gps systems, at least where I am. There is a huge lack of operators that can actually do anything. Plus your efficiency is incomparable to old methods

Lmao! “Charlie bleeds CAT” Love watching Chris and learning about excavators but Im with Charlie on the CATs. I was an owner/operator of nine CATs and now run an Ebay CAT Manual store called Texas CAT Manuals. That used to be my KZfaq account until they took exception to my political views and excommunicated me. 🤣😂😂😂🤔😂😂 So I made this account a couple of days later. If they blow this one up... like my CATs, I’ll be back in a day or so! What is the name of Charlie’s KZfaq channel?

Time is money.
@johndoe-zk1yu5 жыл бұрын
absolutely. He has the skill that was enhanced by the gps, but will new operators be able to work without the gps?
@johndoe-zk1yu5 жыл бұрын
yes. But when they moved on to power machines, they still read a grade by eye. The machines took the muscle out of the work which made it easier and faster.even then the next change came when cables and pullies were replaced by hydraulics, but I think reading grades still was a skill that operators had.

That's what I said when the salesman call me. I said " E series are a useless piece of nothing" but after looking at it and the $24k price I decided to try it. Not had the first problem with it in 4 years now. Commonly loads 150 to 200 loads of dirt a day. I actually have 2 and find them very reliable for pit operations. It's more reliable than a friend of mines 336 and my 325 DL with a third the hours.
